John, Hubquarter Creek is in NE Warren County just north of what is now US highway 158, running into the Roanoke River - the part that is now called Gaston Lake. Near the source is a place-name Vaughan, maybe 5 miles from the Halifax County line. It has two prongs. On the DeLorme map is named only Hubquarter, the east prong. Maybe the west prong was and/or is called Little. DeLorme identifies the main body as part of "Lake Gaston" but I think theer was no such name earlier. It was the Raonoke River to the VA line. -- Merlin Berry > I am trying to decipher wording in a 1795 Warren County, NC will.
