46. BOSTICK Mary. Petition of Mary BOSTICK of Richmond Co., NC, states that she was married to Nathaniel BOSTICK about six years ago, but he left her, and she has been informed that he married another woman about two years ago. The said, "Nathaniel has departed from this Country and is not to be heard of . . ." She prays that a law be passed "to prevent the said Nathaniel from having any claim to any property, personal or real, that shall fall to her by descent or that she may hereafter acquire by her own industry." BROWN of Caswell Co., NC, states that on 27 January [1800] his wife eloped from his bed and board and went off with one Joshua BYRON, leaving a suckling child. She took a horse worth $100 and $42 in cash, but he has never heard any account of them since they left. He prays for relief for his four children and himself.
