    3. I am trying once again to see if I have any 'cousins' out there. My ancestors Richmond and his brother Philemon lived and owned land and served in the Rev. War in NC before moving to Liberty County Georgia after 1800. I have heard their father was James, but can find no James in NC records for that time. I'd be happy to share what I have on this family. 1. [NCROOTS] NEED CHARTER/CONSTITUTION/BY-LAWS, ETC... TO FORM A GENEALOGY SOCIETY IN ROBESON COUNTY
    2. Hi, The Robeson County Heritage Book was a huge success, and from this we feel that there is enough interest here in Robeson County to form a Genealogical Society. [Joyce thanks for posting the Carolina Charter. It proded me, as I didn't think to ask this group.] Not having a organization as such here before we need help. Can someone/anyone/everyone give us some hints on how to organize ourselves? Also, what about a Charter/Constitution/By-Laws with purpose, membership qualifications, offices, job descriptions, etc..... If you can e-mail it to me please e-mail it to two e-mail addresses, i.e.: sam_west@ncsip.duke.edu and samuelawest@netscape.net Or if you need to mail it, please mail to: Sam West Robeson County Heritage Book PO Box 2292 Lumberton, NC 28359

(My line goes back from my ggmother Julia Imogene HALFORD (1867-1909), to J. Travis HALFORD (1842-1905), to J.Jefferson HALFORD (1819-1875). Both these gentlemen were Confederate vets. I've run into them in Kershaw and Chesterfield counties, but I think (going by memory here) I've seen them in the Darlington and Florence county censuses. 1. [NCROOTS] Hello
    2. I have not been active on the list for quite some time. First I was away for a month and when I returned I found the young lady who lived with me and whom I took our of a abusive home situation and had nurtured for almost 30 years got married and moved out without a word to me. Subequenly I started to ecperience what I can only describe as lightening like flashes in my right eye. Optimist that i was I thought perhaps I was reading to much and decided to slow down on my historical research. When they did not subsude I called my Opthomologist. He had me cone within a hald hour. It appeard the my right retna was threatenng to detach. Further testing on Monday reveals possible Glaucoma. I have more testing on Friday. I ask for the paryer of this list because my eyes are my living and enjoyment. I have uncovered much in the past 30 years and written seven books on the subjects researched. My family has been blessed with knowledge which would other-wise have remained hidden. I have been bless because I was given the honor and the opportunity to make some of this possible. Although I have another book in process and more research that I want to complete. Propriety demands that must needs be use much care to protect that which is my vehicle to the past my eyes. So I you do not hear from me. Know that I am think of you all and I will here for time to as much as my eyesight will allow. so until I know what is going on I sall remain quiet in the background. May your searches be fruitful. Florence Hargrave Curtis Flossy2@aol.com

    3. If Joseph B. Blanchard was not born until 1848-1850 it is extremely doubtful that he could have been a 'slave master.' In 1879, you state that he married his first wife, Hester Wilson, yet you later state that he 'RE-married your maternal grandmother 'Ella' in 1892-1893 after Hester died in 1889. ????? If you found him the 1900 WV Census have you searched for him on the 1870 or 1880 Census in NC, VA or WV? Jerry -----Original Message--- -- From: J.r. I do know I cannot afford Ancestry.com !!! : :Grandfather was Joseph B. (Benjamin ?) 1. [NCROOTS] Thomas Douglas, Baptist Minister
    2. Still searching for information on Thomas Douglas, a Baptist minister in Franklin County (VA) from about 1785-1805, who suddenly disappears from Franklin County records about 1805. Am wondering if he might be one and the same as the Thomas Douglas, who was a Baptist minister in Wilkes County (NC) from about 1820-1830. Any help appreciated. Sincerely, and thanks, Bill Simpson
