Here are some of my brick walls: Most ended up in Rowan but may have come from other counties.... Noah Nathaniel BERNHARDT m. Leah Loretta STIREWALT on 8/14/1884 possibly they were from cabarrus Anything on either family appreciated. Both names have several alternate spellings Richard THOMASON d 1824 in Rowan who was his wife? His father was William THOMASON b. 1720 ? Henry County VA?? d. 1800 approx. Don't have William's wife either. This line is confusing. The names Richard, William, Thomas and George were used alot. Henry BARKLEY, whose daughter Mary b. 10/4/1755 m. Thomas COWAN . Who was his wife? Sarah Goodman

However, I think if people are going to attack/defend at the very least send privately and not to the list. I assume the majority of us are adults ... it's a shame some can't act like it. If you are going to get angry over a post you are not forced to read then you don't have to do! IGNORE what you don't like that's what the DELETE key is for. Lastly I think the banishment was uncalled for, a simple private reprimand would have sufficed and should have been sent to all parties involved. Sarah Goodman

I agree with Caron Mills. I suppose I will now find out if I will also be removed from the list for making a post supporting Neal Caskey's right to reply to answer "vindictive and mean-spirited" emails. The attack on him was unwarrented as well as his removal from the list. The attack was as "not on topic" as the reply. Was Neal Caskey the only person removed from the list? Jacob L. Does any one know how to contact the folks at Rootsweb? I have asked the Host but she has chosen not to give it to me. If you can e-mail me privately I would appreciate it. I will not elaborate any further in fear of being ejected from the list. I would also appreciate you also contacting the folks at Rootsweb (If we ever get the address) I belive most of you like myself have read all of the post and have formed their own opinion. I've enjoyed reading all of the post concerning this matter, but, feel now it is time to work behind the scenes for change. Neal has asked me to thank each of you for your support, but ask that you don't jepordize your own membership for his sake. He says the most important thing here is to continue to help each other along genealogy lines. Thank you and this will be the last post I make to the list. If anyone wishes to continue this discussion please do so with me in private. John Scott ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Ms. Bonham, Personally, I feel that Neal should not have been kicked off this list. Normally, I am quiet and rarely have anything to say. But, I WILL voice my opinion in this matter. I do not know any of the people on this list on a personal level. Although the information about the coming anomally may not have value to NCROOTS, it does have to do with historical events. Those of the past, what will take place in the present generations and how future generations will view us as we are now. Although he may have sent the article as information he had read about, that does not constitute plagerism. What it does show is an interest in the genealogical significance in history. And, that, I do appreciate. Sharing recipes for cookies and such are quite another matter. But, I am not noted for being a good cook. I am noted for my ability to do research. I dropped out of my law lists so I could concentrate more fully on my research. And, I have not been rebuked by the other genealogical lists, where I am a member, for forwarding on his article. Christmas or not, we are a democratic people living in a republic that assures certain freedoms. Constitutional Law. As for flaming, it happens on all lists. And, it calms down. Should I be attacked, verbally or in written word, I will defend myself just as surely as I will if I am physically attacked. I afford other people the same right. Now, as far as I am concerned, the matter is closed. Get on with genealogy and Neal should not have been banned. Kaththea J. To change the thread that this list has been following, I would like to take a moment to ask those who may have records, such as land, deeds, wills, births, marriages, cemeteries, etc, to please donate them to the NCGenWeb Archives. This site can be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/ncfiles.htm If you have records that you would like to submit, please contact the person who maintains the county of your interest. Many contacts have been made due to submissions and it is a wonderful way to give back to the community and to help those who live far away and may live on fixed incomes and unable to send off for the record themselves. If some may not have been to this site, please take a moment to do so now, you may find the answer to something that you need already listed on one of the County sites. At the bottom of each County Archive site, you will also find a link to another County page with wonderful information there as well. >From: CBraun675@aol.com >To: NCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com >What does 3x's mean? > >-------------------------------- Do we really care? Do any of you have the Deal surname in your lines - I am looking for the origins of David Franklin Deal who turns up in Catawba County in the census for 1850 born maybe 1819. He later married one of the daughters of David Wike also of Catawba County. In 1850 he is living with David Wike's family. Also would like to find anyone who has the surname Dealsnyder in their background - they would have been in Lincoln county in the 1820 to 30's A Cloninger
Hey everyone, I don't know many of you on the list and you probably don't know me. I always sign my posts or info., Ruth in NC. I don't know Mr. Neal Caskey nor have I seen the post to the list from him that seemed to insult some persons on the list, or the lists he is on, but why has whatever he posted or queried started a flaming session that is causing persons to insult this gentleman publicly or some want to "unsubscribe" to the list? Can anyone tell me why he was removed from the list? Aren't most of us guilty of "posting info" or ask questions that cause controversy? I certainly know I have and am sure I will again. If I have stepped on any toes or insulted anyone by this post, I would sincerely like to apologize, but I think we are adults who are all "researching our roots" and need to work together in our research. To days my first day on this list. So I`ll try to find my family here. My GG-grandfather was John Johnson born 1827, not sure if in N.C.. I do start knowing something in the 1850 Johnston County, N.C. Census, here`s the way he is listed; John 26 Smithy 27 Jasper 5 Burline 2 These two childern I had never heard of before a few months ago. Now to the next census;1860 Wake County, N.C. Southern Division; John 35 Smithia 37 Jasper 16 Berline 12 James 10 (b.1852) Albert 8 Eviline 4 Now I have 4 childern I new nothing about; Then in 1862 my G-grandfather Adolphus(AD) Johnson was born. The only other child in this family i had heard of was James Henry Johnson. James and my G-grandfather Adolphus were both Primitive Baptist Preachers in N.C.. I still have found nothing on their brother`s or sister`s or who their father`s parent were or mother Smithy`s people were. James(Jim) Henry Johnson did write something about his parent in a paper he wrote in 1912, he said his father was English and mother was German, her maiden name was Smithy Maddill, not sure of the spellings on either. I think one reason I know no more than I do is i don`t think Adolphus knew much about his father. from the info I`ve been able to get Adolphus never met his father. In 1861 John enlisted in the 31st N.C.S.T. and was put in company "C". John was wound at the Battle at Drewy`s Buff, VA., and died around May 25, 1864. If this catch anybody`s eye that thinks they know anything about any of this family please let me know. Sorry this ended up being this long, I just started to get everything in. Appreciate your time. Thanks, James L. Johnson Jr. geraldine@intrstar.net
YES! I have a Christina Deal who seems to have popped up from nowhere! Christina was born in 3-13-1824 d. 10-19-1888. m. James Roseman 7-15-1841. Christina and James raised a large family (I have all children's names if you like) in Rowan County. The youngest daughter was Cora my ggrandmother. Does she show up in your research? I know there are alot of Roseman's in the Lincoln county area also. Another mystery, Christina is buried in Rowan County at Union Lutheran Church, as are several of the children, but James isn't... Someone on the ROWAN roots lists was looking for Dealsnyder last year...you might post to that list also. She thought perhaps some of this family were buried in the Franklin Presby. Church cemetary. I have enjoyed being a participant on this forum for some time now. Lately it seems every time I turn around I'm getting jumped on for something or someone else is getting jumped on for something. There have been a couple of infractions which I admit I should have been fussed at by the list owner. But, let me tell you this is the first time I've ever had a "Hex" put on me. I posted what was in my opinion a benign little post that was forwarded to a Ratite List I'm on. There was no mention of an author and I felt the subject matter would be of interest to this group. I copied and pasted it to this list. I have received several e-mails thanking me for the post and I've seen several post to the list voicing appreciation for the same. I have also received three disagreeing with the post. One from a witch who put a Hex on me (I use the word witch because I don't know what else to call one who put curses on people) One from someone who called me a Plagiarist, and one from the "Temporary List Host" who said "Please stay on topic and only post relevant genealogical messages." I getting sick of all of this Childish bickering. I plan on writing the administrators at RootsWeb and see if something can be done with all of these back biting, mean spirited busy bodies who stumble all over themselves to point out each and every fault they stumble across. I'm tired of being the object of dissemination and the target of there assaults. I would unsubscribe but now it is a matter of principle. If you agree with me please send me a private note and I'll include it with my message to the Rootsweb Administrators.
