I posted the following a couple of days ago - some very considerate person answered me and mentioned they had found the Dealsnyder name mentioned on the Rowan County list. I have inadverdently pitched that NCROOTS reply but I want to say Thank You to the person who responded - it was very helpful of you.I do not subscribe to Rowan co just now and so missed the original post. Agnes Cloninger - ------------------------------ Do any of you have the Deal surname in your lines - I am looking for the origins of David Franklin Deal who turns up in Catawba County in the census for 1850 born maybe 1819. He later married one of the daughters of David Wike also of Catawba County. In 1850 he is living with David Wike's family. Also would like to find anyone who has the surname Dealsnyder in their background - they would have been in Lincoln county in the 1820 to 30's A Cloninger

I am researching Bloodworth, Bruce, Dean, Dugger, and Strator, families that lived in NC anywhere from four to 60 years before moving on to Sumner Co., TN. My Gordon and Stanley families may have spent time there as well, but I haven't found proof. Maybe it has something to do with the stress of the holidays, but the TN list has also been dominated by whiners and flamers recently. If our ancestors behaved like this its a wonder they every married and had descendants! Joyce B. in TN

However, I do find that Major William Davidson and Mary McConnell had a child that they named Hugh Lawson Davidson. This name appears for several generations in this family. Searching for "Duplin Co. Places: Past & Present " by Sikes Does anyone have ideas where I might purchase this book ?
Some friendly advice for when those notices for genealogy books on Ebay come across the list... Before getting involved with the auction, check out to see what the cost of the book might be on Bookfinder. It is a site that you can check across several book dealers to see what a book is really worth. Many times we have seen a book on Bookfinder for many times cheaper than what an auction has it for on Ebay. It is definitely a good guage to see if you really want to bid and how far you want to take it. The link to Bookfinder is found in the General Section of the Mid-Atlantic Roots Network site at: http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/ Thanks! Don & Jeanine
