    3. My goodness, shall we "draw and quarter" her while we're at it? Grow up people. You can't "undo" what has been done. Get on with life and genealogy. Deeds speak so much louder than all the words Elizabeth or her Temporary Hostess can say. Give them time to reflect and make corrections as they see fit----it is the listowner's list, after all. We are just members of one small community----not the Lords and Ladies of the manor. This is the season of Peace and Goodwill toward our fellow man (and woman)---practice what you are preaching, please. May God bless us each and every one... 2. It looks as though if we send our data to NCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com, we will bypass that #$%^& who has apparently taken over Elizabeth's list. Let's not reply to Barbara via her so-called "reply to:" line. Unless this "person" gives up the list and returns control to Elizabeth, I also will uncsub!

    1. [NCROOTS] reinstatement et al
    2. Agnes E. Cloninger
    3. I started this and just for the record I did NOT say that anyone should be reinstated - This is a genealogical information forum - not a complaint nor a free-form forum, and I pray this is the last on the matter. If the list owner wants to clamp the lid on me or anyone else so be it, it's her time, expertise and money.I can reach others to tap their knowledge banks by email or by going directly to their personal sites.Any of them who might have help for me have been bookmarked or added to my personal address book, already. Barring that a trip to the archives (all sites have everything posted on them archived forever) will quickly and easily bring up past information, and is a simple and thorough way to play "catch-up" Any comments for me about my opinion please use my email address, clearly posted above, do NOT send them to NCRoots. 1. [NCROOTS] Oh Boy!!!
    2. John Scott
    3. I'm not sure this will reach the list but This list is being held hostige and Elizbeth Harris has been Unsubscribed. Please someone help her. She is a FRIEND TO US ALL The following is a message from her : The situation at present is as follows. I was in England for ten days, with no access to e-mail, and returned home Thursday night (December 16th). I had asked Barbara several weeks ago if she would take care of the NCROOTS (rootsweb) list for me while I was gone, and she had agreed. Barbara was the original list manager (a term I prefer to listowner) for NCROOTS, and I knew that she would therefore be able to step in as a substitute with no further instructions. I also knew from past experience that her style of management is different from mine, but I did not feel that this disqualified her from managing the list in my absence. Barbara agreed to take over the list for me during my trip, and also offered to take it back permanently, but I told her that I was enjoying doing it, and would like to resume doing so after the trip. All our correspondence to that point was cordial, and I had no hesitation in turning the list over to her on December 4th, the day before I left. I first became aware of what had happened in my absence when I started reading the accumulated mail on Friday morning. On Saturday (yesterday) I went to the utility page for the list, intending to reinstate myself as list manager, but discovered that the password had been changed. I then attempted to subscribe to the list through the usual e-mail route, twice from this address and once from the NCGenWeb help line address, but never received an acknowledgement or welcome message. I sent two messages to the list, which were the two weekly updates of files posted to the NCGenWeb Archives. I have been told that Barbara reposted these to the NCROOTS list. However, she has not reinstated me as a subscriber, and I am not currently receiving messages from that list except as friends still on the list forward them to me. I have written to Barbara three times to ask what is going on, but have had no response from her. On reading the archived messages from the period when I was gone, I discovered that she changed the tag lines to remove my name as contact person, and changed the list to moderated status, on December 14th. At this point I cannot confirm that Barbara is unwilling to turn the list back over to me, since I have had no direct communication from her, but it certainly appears from everything that I have seen so far that this is her intention. I have not yet decided what further action I am going to take. Meanwhile, thank you again, all of you, for your help and support! Elizabeth Harris state coordinator, NCGenWeb If you folks are as sick of this as I am YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT> JOIN THE NEW LIST by clicking on NCROOTS-subscribe@onelist.com this will subscrribe you to the new list, where you can search your NC Roots in a less hostile enviroment. Neal has asked Elizabeth to take over at the controls of the new list. However before you subscribe please beware that the rules are a little different on it. 1. [NCROOTS] RE: Barbara vs Elizabeth
    2. I don't want to be a rebel rouser or start any nonsense to the list but it is my understanding Elizabeth Harris is back in town and to my knowledge postings should go through her monitoring as list owner. Elizabeth is a very level headed, very fair excellent listowner who has made many friends on this list, myself included. I just saw the below posting that supposedly came from Eizabeth, so why did it go through Barbara Bonham to be posted to the list? Can Barbara kick Elizabeth off too? If this be the case in my support for Elizabeth and all other persons kicked off, I will also be another "unsubscriber". Some census can be found at the Rutherford County, NCGenWeb Archive site at this URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/rutherford.htm The lady who was posting has since changed her email address but I am sure she will be back to work posting soon after the Holidays. Maybe until then, this site may be of help to you. Also at the bottom of the site, look for the other County site link which also may hold interesting info for you. 1. Re: [NCROOTS] Welcome Back Elizabeth Harris
    2. Well, I have no intention of unsubscribing. At my age I just let this kind of "stuff" whiz on by (... and this too shall pass away). But you can add me to the list of those who are happy to see you return. I cannot recall when I've last seen such childishness on the part of someone who is supposed to be "in charge." Regards, Bill

    2. Hoping to reach others who are researching John Oliver Giddens in Pender/Duplin county area. John was born 1828 in New Hanover county to John Giddens, born ca1804 in New Hanover county. John was married to Sarah Price, however she was not mother to John Oliver. John's parents were Thomas Giddens and Sarah (?). Any help or possible connections, please let me know. I'd love to expand my Christmas card list with new cousins! Brenda If you can't say anything nice--hit delete, not send.

    3. If Neal will come, I want to see him back. If not, I would like to know the list address he has started. By the way, this NCROOTS is a great list. I have enjoyed it in the past and plan to keep on enjoying it. It is so hard to find each little piece of my puzzle. I will use any route I can to search it. Merry Christmas to all of you! 1. [NCROOTS] Rutherford co. census postings by frendlysky
    2. Patty Brock
    3. There is/was a nice lady posting the 1790 Rutherford co. NC census data to the list. I was very interested in these. Is she still posting them? I haven't seen one posted lately and was wondering if she is still on this list? I am looking for any information on the Pack surname. For a year I have tried my best to find out who the parents are for James Pack b. 1825 TN/NC. I say TN/ NC because every census record I have found for him says he was born TN. but when I get his childrens death certificates they say he was born in NC. so I have to search both states. I have also tried to find a marriage for James Pack. He supposedly married a lady by the name of Elizabeth Foster b.ca. 1826 GA. but then some of her census data says she was born SC. Confusing to say the least. Would appreciate any help trying to figure out who James' father and mother were. Would also like to see the rest of those census records from frendlysky. She is very thoughtful to be posting them and I thank her. Patty Brock

    3. I too would like to join the crowd hoping Neal is reinstated. My ancestors were some of the original Rowan Co., NC settlers and I've been proud to be a part of this NC list. What has happened lately has been dreadful! Regardless, on no other list that I belong to, has a Listowner, OR temp List Monitor, taken such control that they would only allow notes be sent to the list from themselves. I have joined Neal's list and had been ready to unsub to this one. Now that you're back, hope we can ALL, including Neal, get back to NC genealogy on this list. Kathy Conard Ft. Lauderdale, FL
