Malinda There is a Muddy Creek Baptist Church in Davidson Co, NC and there were some Mullikins in that area in the 1700's. I am not aware of any pictures but I believe the church is still there. Omeda
Hi...James may indeed have been a Scot.....sounds as though he was definitely fraternizing with the Scotch-Irish (Stephenson). I'm sending this along to a Stephenson descendant. If he thinks you have a connection ....I'm sure he'll be in touch. Am looking for any information on the deaths of my GG grandparents, John and Sarah D. McFarland. Only information I have is that they were born and raised in Guilford County, NC. They are not in the census after 1850 so I don't know if they stayed in that area. Does anyone have any information on this family?
Hi Linda, Based on proximity alone , your Smith line has to be considered a strong possibility for connection to my own. I have Rev. S.P. (Samuel?) Smith who was the father of Sarah Smith who married (Hiram) Samuel Douthitt... Their daughter Alice Bell Douthitt (b. 2 Mar 1861 , Wilkes Co.NC) married on 22 June 1881 (in her grandfather's parlor) to James Bradford Keever (b.29 Apr 1852 , Alexander Co. NC; s/o Lasson Keever & Malinda E. Johnston of Lincoln Co. NC) Do you see anyone who looks familiar ? Hello I am new to the list. I am researching families from the Lincoln, Catawba and other surrounding counties. My direct ancestors are: Killian, Vollbrecht/Fullbright, Yount, Crites, Grounds, and Gross. I am also interested in information about some of the families that married into mine, and they are: Bollinger, Hahn, Moyers/Myers, Slinkard, Statler, and Welker. I am also interested in getting information on the first twenty families that migrated to the Louisiana Territory in 1799-1800, with George Frederick Bollinger. The names of the families include: Bollinger, Statler, Nyswonger, Grounds, Crites, Cotner, Miller, Limbaugh, Welker, and Slinkard. I don't know for certain, but believe at least the Bollingers came from Pennsylvania - do not know the county. Am just now starting to try to track several.... I'm not back very far with any of the lines in Lincoln/Catawba yet, but they seem (mostly) to have been in NC by the late 1700's, and wouldn't be surprised if most of them didn't come from PA. 'Tis a curiosity at this point....... Hopefully the new year will bring ancestors out of the woodwork! ;-) Rachel ----- Original Message ----- From: "Malinda Jones" <mthiesse@swbell.net> To: <NCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 26, 1999 1:32 AM Subject: Re: [NCROOTS] Weidner et al - Attn: Forrest Orndorff > Perhaps it's been mentioned before , but I must have missed it.....where did > your German lines come from ?.....both what counties in PA and were they > Palatinates ? I have given a lot of thought about Christmas spirit and what it really means to me. I keep hearing that Christmas is only for children and I find a lot of fault with that. Christmas is for people who believe in Christ and that his birth was for the security of our souls. Christmas is what is in our heart and soul, what we make it.!!! Not what a present cost or how big it is, but that every present we give to someone else is in memory of the birth of our salvation, " THE CHRIST CHILD " I get gifts from special people that are priceless and have no commercial cost. the gift of love from my family. There is nothing I could treasure more than this. Christmas to me it being together with family and friends who care about each other. You don't have to be blood, JUST CARE!! christmas is the memories you have shared over the years, when you were little with the awe of a child, and when you are older and watch your own child, and when you become grandparents watching all of them.. Rembering all the people that have been a part of your christmas that are no longer with us, but honoring them also as Christ would do for us. The special memories that we cherish after this Christmas is past and we are looking forward to the next. We are sad for the people we love that are not with us today for whatever the reason, and grateful for the ones that are here to make a memory on this day. It seems our goal in life should be to take this feeling and cherish it all year with each one we meet. Granted, some are hard to love, but we should make the effort all the same. So!! let the love of "THE CHRIST CHILD" fill our hearts on this Christmas day as we remember why we celebrate, and continue thru the next year.
