The information below was sent to me by a memeber of the Perquimans County List, can anyone tell me about Warwick Creek, and if there were a plantation or Town the Creek got is name for which may or may not have been in Old Perquimans County. I am trying to prove that my ancestor married in Warwick North Carolina in 1694. The earliest Perquimans County Deed which does mention him is 1696. Thank you Le Having checked my North Carolina County Maps, all I can come up with is a Warwick Creek that forms most of the boundary between Chowan and Gates counties. It begins in Chowan just west of County Line Road (the boundary between Chowan and Perquimans) and flows west into the Chowan River. Maybe Warwick was the name of a plantation? I have been fighting a brick wall for almost 20 years concerning my ggreatgrandfather, Alexander Starrett in Guilford Co. NC. I found a site which had Ross Deeds listed. On several of them there is a John Starrett that proved the Execution of the within Deed in open court and on motion ordered to be registered. What does this mean and what would the occupation of John Starrett have been. I am hoping that this will lead me to the parents of Alexander and possibly his wife, Nancy Gray. These all have the form NCLINCOL-L NCGASTON-L i.e. NC plus the first six letters of the county name. It's possible however that there are also other lists on other systems, and if these pre-date the rootsweb lists they may be more active.
