I am throwing this one in the ring in hopes of finding descendents of Ruth McIntosh. William J. Milligan, of Fayetteville, NC, age 20 years, son of John Milligan and Mary Milligan married on May 12, 1911 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ruth McIntosh of Fayetteville, NC, age 16 years, daughter of Angus R. McIntosh and Josephine Bethea. Charles Angus Berckman and his wife, Ada Margaret McIntosh Berckman stood bond for Ruth McIntosh. Ada was Ruth's sister. Born to William J. Milligan and Ruth McIntosh, one son whose name may have been Colin, born about 1912. Ruth died about 1913 or 1914. Ada took in Ruth's son and cared for him for two years when William Millligan showed up again with a new wife. It is said that he took the boy and went to Virginia. We don't know if the son of William Milligan and Ruth McIntosh survived childhood. But, we would like to know. And, we would like to be in contact with any of his descendents. I have checked with the Registrar of Deeds at Cumberland County Court House and there is no record for a "Delayed Birth Certificate" for this child and no record of Ruth's death. But, Ruth is buried in a small cemetery located on the corner of Camden Rd. and Mayview Street in the Massey Hill District of Fayetteville, NC. Kaththea Borland-Mills MILLSBORKA@worldnet.att.net
Linda-Goose Creek is in the northeast corner of NC about 15 miles from the VA border. Go east on Rt 158 from Elizabeth City to Rt 343 12 miles to Goose Creek. Go to this URL http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgenweb/map1.html/ and click on Camden County. Perhaps if you post on that page someone from that area may be able to help you. Hi Linda and all; The NC Gazetteer on page 195, lists the following: Goose Creek, rises in w Carteret County and flows 3 mi s into Bougue Sound. Appears on the Moseley map, 1733. There is no mention of Townley's Point. Hope this helps. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where the Goose Creek area of Bogue Sound is or was. In the 1700's there was an area there known as Townley's Point. I'm interested in the Thomas Townley that went there from Va. in the late 17th century or very early18th century. His son was also Thomas Townley as was his grandson . Thanks to all. Linda Watts
The hearing has been rescheduled for Wed. at 3:00 again at the Clerk of Courts office. Again I wish all interested parties to please attend. Nobody showed up today. This may be due to the inclimite weather. Area south and east of Lincolnton have up to 12 inches of "New" Snow on top of what was already there. I will keep the list posted of the outcome. Thanks to all of you that have written in support. Neal Caskey ostrich@bellsouth.net Please visit my website-books for sale at: http://members.xoom.com/petphotos/books.htm

Could someone tell me where I could find information about the Barefoot family of color in Sampson/Johnston/Cumberland counties? But most likely Sampson County, Westbrook Township. Specifically, Winifred "Winnie" Barefoot (b. 1840) who married Silas West (b. 1833). Both were considered Mulatto according to 1870 census. There is mixed lineage on both sides of the my gr grandparents families. Dates of m/d are unknown. Somehow they are associated with Kirby West. My gr grandparents and some of their children were buried in the Kirby West Cemetery/Kirby West Colored Cemetery and he signed off on their death certificates (in the Courthouse) in Clinton, NC. There seems to be a connection, not sure how? This is my dead end? I am wondering if they were slaves, sharecroppers or what is the actual connection? I am wondering if there is a book about the Barefoot or the WEST family. I cannot find anything before the 1870 census. Where do I look next? Please Help! The Old Pendleton District (SC) Database CD for January 2000 is now (finally!) available. All current orders are in the mail or will be Monday. This cd is a project of the OPD Chapter of the SC Gen Society. Rootsweb is aware of the project and has given approval of its occasional announcement on lists where it is relevant. The database currently contains 244,000 inter-related names of those who lived in the western-most 3 counties of SC, and their ancestors and descendents. Most states and a number of countries are included in its thousands of listed locations. This version of the cd will be immediately available thru February. The next expected revision of the cd will be for the April revision of the gedcom. The low-cost cd is offered to support continued contribution of data to the already huge database, as it becomes increasingly inconvenient for many to download/import it. The download/import access is still within the reach of many. Currently, it is essentially impossible to import the gedcom in FTM using other than WinNT. Usable FTM databases are provided for FTM 5, 6 and 7, and for a number of other popular genealogy programs. Full details may be seen at http://www.shelby.net/jr/olpend/ (hit reload/refresh to be sure you're seeing the current webpage revised 1/23/2000).
