    1. [NCROOTS] Rev. Frame Woods NC/SC 1754-1816
    2. Brett F. Woods
    3. I'm trying to verify the following data, and obtain additional information, on the family of Frame Woods. The below material has been compiled from a number of sources. I am particularly interested in any information on Frame's son William Woods and am trying to determine if he married an Elizabeth (surname Henry?) who was born in SC ABT 1791, or, if not, who William did marry and where they lived. FRAME WOODS (son of Joseph Woods and Elizabeth Logan) was born January 28, 1754 in Craven County, South Carolina, and died November 28, 1816 in York County, South Carolina. He married EDITH ROGERS 1780 in South Carolina. She was born in 1758, and died July 02, 1824 in York County, South Carolina. Frame Woods was a Baptist minister and (between 1800 and 1809) is of record being the pastor of the Welsh Neck Baptist Church in the town of Society Hill, Darlington County, South Carolina. Toward the end of his life (years 1810-1815) he presided over the Deep Creek Baptist Church in Anson County, North Carolina. He is enumerated on the 1790, 1800 and 1810 Censuses from Anson County NC and appears to have frequently traveled between North and South Carolina. Also, enumerated in 1800, and living near Frame, is a Moses Woods. While doubtless a relative, Moses' relationship to Frame has yet to be determined. In the reference text "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution," (Moss,B.G.; Limestone College; Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, 1983) Frame is enumerated as having served as a Captain in the South Carolina Militia during 1780-1781. Children: i. WILLIAM WOODS, b. 1792, Anson County, NC;. ii. JOSEPH WOODS, b. July 1781; d. January 13, 1845; m. HEPHZIBAH DARGAN. iii. ISHAM FRAME WOODS, b. March 12, 1772; m. HARRIET BYRON EVANS. iv. ANDREW B. WOODS, b. 1789, Darlington County, SC; d. January 26,1825, Sumter County, SC v. MARY PAMELIA WOODS, b. 1791, Anson County, NC; d. 1849, West Feliciana Parish, LA; m. WILLIAM LATTA vi. MARGERY WOODS, b. 1784, SC; m. WILLIAM HENRY, JR., Anson County, NC; b. 1765, Anson County, NC vii. ANNE WOODS, b. 1787. Thanks for any comments. Brett F. Woods Santa Fe, New Mexico

    3. According to Precision Mapping 4.0 Perry, NC is located a few miles north of Kings Mountain, NC on Highway NC-216 just inside Gaston Co., NC and a short distance south of the NC-216 and NC-274 intersection. I would assume that it is a community since there is not a town by that name. Bill

    3. Can anyone connect with this: John MIDDLETON b 1797 m Jemima DENTON in 1815 in Haywood Co, NC. John's sister, Charity MIDDLETON b 1798, m Jonas Denton (Jemima's brother) in 1815, Haywood Co, NC. John and Jonas are on the muster rolls together in the War of 1812. Jemima and Jonas' parents were Samuel DENTON and Elizabeth CHASTAIN. Elizabeth's parents were Rev. John CHASTAIN and Mary O'BRIAN of the Pierre CHASTAIN line. Elizabeth's brother, Elijah CHASTAIN, m (1) Ann MIDDLETON (possibly related to John and Charity, she is reported as being born 1778 in TN.) I also have come across a Sarah MIDDLETON who was born 1791 in SC and married, abt 1810, Henry CROSSNOE from NC who was also in the war of 1812. They moved to Perry Co, TN. (where is Perry Co, by the way?) The Chastain data relates that Charity's is the dau of Thomas MIDDLETON. One assumes he is John's father as well as Charity's as their birth dates are too close to be otherwise. I have descending info on my John, but no ancestors. The DENTONS and CHASTAINS came down from VA and purchased land in upper east TN under the Carolina land grant. Then, part of this family settled in Pickens Co, SC (Pendleton). John and Charity's birth place is shown as SC. I do not know from where my Middletons came. ***Familes living in SC, from the 1800 SC (Pendleton) census: DENTONS: John and Sen. Samuel, family 8; Samuel, family 7 CHASTEEN(CHASTAIN): John and Stephen, family 164; Benjamin and John, family 148 MIDDLETON: Elizabeth (widowed), John and Richard, family 46; Thomas, family 7 Does anyone know of a possible connection between Deborah HORRY and Thomas MIDDLETON? I am trying to find info on these MIDDLETONS, if you can help, please contact me at either: lkwebster@mindspring.com or lkwebster@hotmail.com Thanks, Lynda

Take a look at the 2 headings below on the ones in your posts - the first one made it to the list because you have the correct address in the To: field - the second kept coming back because of incorrect address. Hope this helps explain - I have no idea WHY they do it this way - you will have to ask someone who is more computer literate than I am to find that out! :o) Good luck in your research, Betty bnorem@aol.com (Tech stuff snipped)
