Hi all. Due to popular demand, I have just finished a website of Look-up resources pertaining to not only this state, but many other states as well. I have numerous sources listed which I am willing to do free look-ups from. Many of these are KY resources, but I have sources for other states as well. The web address is http://www.folksites.com/genealogylookups Also, for those of you who have a web page, and for those you are coordinators for any of the genealogy web pages, I would appreciate it if you would add a link to my page. Rex I do Look-ups at the Second Largest Genealogy Library in the Country. Email me directly to inquire at [email protected] --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I heard on TechTV on satellite today that if your Internet security settings are lower than medium, you can get a virus with an e-mail message without even opening an e-mail or attachment. Virginia

Could someone please do a lookup for me. I'm searching for a Will for Solomon BOYKIN who died in 1790, possibly in Johnston Co. His wife's name was Judah; children William, Polly, Edea and Zilpha. He and his family have been a brick wall for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Leslie Liddiard [email protected]
The following message is from Cecile Harrell, an NCROOTS subscriber. Another subscriber received a message from Cecile containing the BadTrans virus, and reported it to me this afternoon. I contacted Cecile, and meanwhile took her off the subscribers' list. She sent me the following reply, and asked me to convey it to the list. In fact many of you have contributed to various Heritage Books. Quite often I receive on the various list a posting that advertises a certain Heritage book, either one that has been done or one that is in the process. The Gaston County Heritage Book Committee of which I'm president still gets e-mails stating that the person is just now learning of the book etc. Being frustrated that inspite of all the advertising we have done and the countless e-mails and other advertisements are not reaching the masses, I have decided to start this mailing list devoted entirely to Heritage Books. If you are publishing a Heritage Book, Wanting to do a Heritage Book, or promoting a Heritage Book or just wishing to join the list to further your genealogy research then now is your chance. The purpose of this list will be to promote Heritage Books from all over the country. Every state and region. Heritage books of all types as long as they are genealogy and or historical related. You may advertise your book here, promote your book here, solicit stories, and make queries. To join this list please click or go to [email protected] To Post Messages once you are subscribed [email protected] Once you are subscribed you can unsubscribe by [email protected] Please forward this e-mail to other list you are on. I would like to see the list become very active as I believe the Heritage Books are a major source for genealogical research. Thanks Neal Caskey [email protected]>>
This thing is the SirCam virus. You can't get it from the list (rootsweb blocks all such attachments), but you can get it from anyone who might have your address in his or her address book and is infected. The owner of the infected computer doesn't know it's being sent. So while NCROOTS is not sending this to you, I would still like to know if any NCROOTS subscribers are infected, and if so, I'll take them off the subscriber list until they clean up their systems. This will keep them from responding to messages posted to the list. At 2:17 PM -0700 7/24/01, Cathy in Oregon wrote: >I am getting the same thing. However, if anyone else on the list receives the virus-laden message and would like for me to check to see if it came from an NCROOTS subscriber, I'll be happy to do that. Please write to me directly, so we don't burden the list with these requests. Here's what McAfee has to say about this particular virus, which is currently very widespread. ---- McAfee.com has seen a large and growing number of consumer computers infected with W32/[email protected] This is a HIGH RISK VIRUS FOR CONSUMERS. The infected email can come from addresses that you recognize. Attached is a file with two different extensions. The file name itself varies. The email message can appear as follows: Subject: [filename (random)] Body: [content varies] Hi! How are you? I send you this file in order to have your advice or I hope you can help me with this file that I send or I hope you like the file that I sendo you or This is the file with the information that you ask for See you later. Te mando este archivo para que me des tu punto de vista or Espero me puedas ayudar con el archivo que te mando or Espero te guste este archivo que te mando or Este es el archivo con la información que me pediste Nos vemos pronto, gracias. The virus searches for .GIF, .JPG, .JPEG, .MPEG, .MOV, .MPG, .PDF, .PNG, .PS, and .ZIP files in the MY DOCUMENTS folder and attempts to send copies of these documents to email recipients found in the Windows Address Book and addresses found in cached files. First, I want to say I am sorry for sending out a email in one group message, but I wasnt going to type this 30 times. Dear list manager, Please remove me from your list for now. It seems that there is a nasty person going through the mailing list and sending out some kind of virus. I have been getting all kinds of email from strangers telling me to "take a look at this file and give me your advice". It requires you to download it. I have not been doing so. I have been deleting the email instead of downloading. Some how, this person(s) has been able to get a hold of my email list form my computer and has been sending the same emails to my family and friends. Some of them with private emails (from work) that are not searchable on the net. Here is a copy of a note I sent to AOL in this problem (it also shows some of the emails I was sent and so were my family and friends): Hello, I don't know what to do. I am getting email like this from a number of different email address'. To make things worse, this person has , somehow, been able to send the same mail to email address' on my buddy list. How is that possible? Some of the email address' I have on my buddy list are through private organizations (work) and not available to the internet public. But these person's are getting them. How do I fix this problem? Here are a few for you to look at that are being sent to me: Subj: M3 Date: 7/24/2001 1:52:08 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: [email protected] (rjkpl) To: [email protected] File: M3.doc.lnk (279953 bytes) DL Time (34666 bps): < 2 minutes Subj: 1843 Date: 7/24/2001 3:14:18 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: [email protected] (black ted) To: [email protected] File: 1843.doc.lnk (273637 bytes) DL Time (34666 bps): < 2 minutes Subj: send list Date: 7/24/2001 9:44:57 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Tanya Creacy) To: [email protected] File: sendlist.doc.pif (195757 bytes) DL Time (34666 bps): < 1 minute Hi!
