My grandson gave me a history book called Chronicle of America. Under Pinckney: I found Thomas Pinckney, a Federalist, on Jan. 12, 1792 he was appointed the first US Minister to Britain. Charles Pinckney a Constitution delegate from South Carolina. He was appointed in 1797 to a 3 man commission to negotiate a settlement with France (appointed by Adams). In 1804 he was on the Federalist Ticket, ran & lost to Jefferson. I guess this is why so many southern families made it a given name. Unless my Moore family is related to the Pinckney family. More Moore research needed.
