Altenhoff ====================================================== Hi J., I wanted to point out a couple things. It appears that you are taking these from "An Index to Marriage Bonds Filed in the North Carolina State Archives," done by the North Carolina Division of Archives and History ca. 1977. This index does not include "all" the extant marriage bonds for "all" counties. Granville County did not send their bonds to the state, and they are not included on this index. Also there are some counties for which small groups of bonds have been discovered in the courthouses since the time of the index, and they are also not included. Finally, for those people who want to know if a specific marriage is listed on the above index, they can go to: http://familysearch.org/eng/Search/frameset_search.asp and do a search. Options allow the search to be narrowed to marriages in NC, and to narrow down the search years if desired. The entries from the marriage bond index have been entered on the International Genealogical Index (IGI). Click on the name. If the seven digit "Source Call No." of the entry begins with 633, then click on that number, and you can see that is the microfiche number of the specific fiche of the above index from which that marriage was taken. While using the IGI is not a convenient form to use in looking to see all marriage bonds for a surname for a county, and does not include the bondsman and witness information as the index and your site does, it does allow anyone to see if a specific marriage bond is listed on the index, without having to wait for completion of your site. Also, the original marriage bonds listed on the index (and IGI) for most counties are available through any Family History Center, and can be photocopied without having to order from the NC State Archives.
