PHILLIPS Daily Press TEXT: Esther Pauline Nelson, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999. A native of Reidsville, N.C., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1942. She was a member of Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren in Newport News. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, and her granddaughter, Heather. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Chapman of Lutz, Fla., Bette Miller of Huntsville, Ala., and Linda Griffin of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four sons, Bill Nelson of Raleigh, N.C., Bob Nelson of Richmond and Ben Nelson and Don Nelson, both of Newport News; and 18 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Teri Greiser at the funeral home.
