Rockingham Co. NC Will of John WALL Sr Written 21 Jan 1842 Extra Entry 23 July 1842 Probated Aug Term 1842 John WALL Sr Wife: Catherine Daughters: Catherine WALL (minor) Ruthy WALL , wife of Robert LYTLE Emily Harriet PEAY (wife of George W. PEAY) Rebecca WALL Lucinda WALL Mary WALL Sons: Claiborn WALL John WALL Jr. Pinckney WALL Joseph WALL James WALL Exe: Son Clabourn WALL and friend Miles D. KING Wit: Robert M. NAPIER, Henry WADE, Jos. H. MAY, J. HOLDBY Miles D. KING renounced right as executor and Byrd LOWE was appointed and bonded $15,000, with Wm H. LOWE, McCULLEN, and James S. YOURS as Securities. My notes: John WALL, born 18 May 1778, died 26 July 1842, son of John WALL and Lucinda WILLIAMS. Buried in a field in the community of Bakers Crossroads on Great Rock House Creek. Very hard to reach this cemetery, many graves with a few fieldrocks, only one stone, that of John WALL. John WALL married Rebecca LOWE 14 Dec 1807 Rockingham Co. NC. Rebecca LOWE was daughter of Thomas LOWE and Mary HOLMAN John WALL married Catherine WADE 5 May 1821 Rockingham Co. NC. On the IGI records all children listed in the will are reported to be those of Catherine WADE. That is incorrect, proven by census records: Martha/Ruthy WALL , born 1818 was daughter of Rebecca LOWE John WALL Jr born ca 1808-1812 was son of Rebecca LOWE Harriet WALL born 1820 was daughter of Rebecca LOWE Notice in the above will, only one child is listed as a minor, Catherine, that may mean that all of the above children may be by first wife, Rebecca LOWE except for Catherine...but from census records these children were by Catherine WADE: Elizabeth born 1822, Claiborn born 1824, Rebecca born 1825, Lucinda born 1829, Wm. Pinckney born 1830, Mary born 1832, Joseph M born 1833, James T. born 1835, Catherine born 1837. My question on this, how could Claiborn WALL listed as son be executor of his father's will if he was not born until 1824 and his father died 1842? Or could a 18 year old son be an executor of a will? - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rockingham Co.
