    1. [NCROCKHA] Re: Heritage Books
    2. The Heritage Books for the various counties are usually put together and published by the historical societies. Many counties have published them in NC and VA. The Rockingham County Heritage Book is out of print and there are currently no plans that I know of to reprint. There was only one volume. Stokes and Surry Counties, NC had two volumes each and they may still be available. You would just need to write the historical society for more information on availability and cost which runs about $50 each. I have the books for Rockingham, Caswell, two volumes of Stokes, and Patrick Co., VA. Had the Surry Co., volumes but gave them away as a gift. I was once offered $200 for my Rockingham Co. book but of course turned that down. It is a great reference book. Elvin Perkins Jr Greensboro, NC

    1. [NCROCKHA] History Lesson Pinckney
    2. My grandson gave me a history book called Chronicle of America. Under Pinckney: I found Thomas Pinckney, a Federalist, on Jan. 12, 1792 he was appointed the first US Minister to Britain. Charles Pinckney a Constitution delegate from South Carolina. He was appointed in 1797 to a 3 man commission to negotiate a settlement with France (appointed by Adams). In 1804 he was on the Federalist Ticket, ran & lost to Jefferson. I guess this is why so many southern families made it a given name. Unless my Moore family is related to the Pinckney family. More Moore research needed.
