    1. [NCROCKHA-L] Elizabeth Coleman Sutton
    2. nelson
    3. On 1840 census we find Jonathan Suitz with female over 20 and 2 females under 5. On 1850 census we find Jonathan Suitz with wife Nancy and [daughter (?) age 10 and Elizabeth Ann Coleman age 12]. On 1860 census Elizabeth Ann Coleman is still listed in the household of Jonathan Suitz, the next year she married Levi Sutton. They are both buried at Howard's Chapel in Rockingham County. They died about a year apart. When we pulled the death certicate of their daughter, Phebe Catherine, it shows her mother as Betty Sutton and her father as James Fuller. We are certain on the parents as Levi and Elizabeth(Betty) for Phebe Catherine but wonder if Elizabeth married James Fuller after Levi's death. Can any one do a look up for me of a marriage between Elizabeth (Betty) Coleman Sutton and James Fuller in the late 1890s? Would love to trade information with some of the families of this couple. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give. Pat Nelson nels095@ibm.net

    1. [NCROCKHA-L] Elizabeth Schreeder/Mrs. John Paul Jones of Ruffin, NC
    2. Ann Langdon
    3. Hello: My mother's cousin, Elizabeth Schreeder (b. 1906?, Haverstraw,NY), married John Paul Jones III. They lived in Ruffin, NC. I am trying to locate the family, and I am hoping one of you will know of them. Our last contact with "Lizzie" was in the 1970's. Her husband was quite ill at the time. Lizzie's brother, Foster Schreeder, did extensive genealogical research on our shared ancestors, the Lane and the McKenzie families of New York. I have undertaken my own research these many years later, and would like to share my findings with my cousins in North Carolina. I dearly hope someone will know this family. Thank you. 3. I am looking for the parents of James Floyd White. He was born in 1817 in Rockingham County and died in 1896. He married Sarah Ledbetter in Stokes County and made his home in Guilford County. There is a possibility that his father's name was John Timothy White, a quaker. Does anyone know how to access the Quaker records in Rockingham County? Thank you. hank you.

    1. [NCROCKHA-L] Taylors and Saunders NCROCKHA-D Digest V99 #71
    2. Howard L. Taylor
    3. Bob and Rick, There are Taylors and Saunders in the Rockingham County Will Book and in the Early Families of the Counties of Rockingham and Stokes with Revolutionary Service. A Col. James Saunders is referred to several times. A George Taylor is described in Vol. i, p. 120, along with a list of his children. There are still Taylors in Rockingham and Stokes Co, in Danbury. Didn't see a Henry Saunders will. There is one for a Jordan Saunders. Robin Taylor

    1. [NCROCKHA-L] RE: Taylor (and now Saunders)
    2. Fredric Z. Saunders
    3. Hi Bob Lee, I do not have any information on your John TAYLOR, but do have a little on other TAYLORs in Rockingham County, NC, though they are not my direct line. My ancestor Henry SAUNDERS lived on the Lickfork of Hogans Creek in eastern Rockingham County. He had a daughter Elizabeth SAUNDERS that married John Horford TAYLOR, and a son James SAUNDERS that married Esther TAYLOR. Both of these marriages probably occurred around the early 1790s. I can't really tell you much else, as I haven't researched TAYLOR there. I do know there are quite a few records of TAYLOR there. I have seen the name enough that I believe the above TAYLOR was also related to TAYLOR in Caswell County, as the ones above were only a few miles from the Rockingham/Caswell County line. I don't know if there were other TAYLOR lines in Rockingham County. If you should come across either of the above, I would be interested. I don't know what happened to James SAUNDERS and Esther TAYLOR above, but believe John Horford TAYLOR remained in Rockingham County. You haven't by chance seen a James SAUNDERS near your TAYLOR in Wilkes Co., GA have you? Since you have your TAYLOR line to late 1780s from Rockingham County, keep in mind that Rockingham was formed from Guilford in 1785. You can see my SAUNDERS line listing the above TAYLOR connections on my page at: http://pweb.netcom.com/~fzsaund/saunders.html Rick Saunders

    1. [NCROCKHA-L] My lost TAYLOR line
    2. R. E. Lee
    3. For several years I have been trying to trace one Benjamin TAYLOR back further than Wilkes Co., GA., in the late 1780s. All without success. Recently I learned he had a brother, John. He and John married Fullilove sisters in York Co., SC., in the late 1780s. Wilkes Co. records show that John was from Rockingham Co., NC. I write this inquiry with the hope that someone, researching NC records, may have come upon these lost (to me) TAYLORS. Any scrap of information would be relished. Many thanks, in advance, for your help, Bob Lee relee@cyberg8t.com
