    1. Re: [NCROBESO] Archibald A. Lowry, 1861 - 1928
    2. The Archibald Lowry I am looking for was born in 1861, and was a son of Dianna Lowry, (I think), and was the grandson of Owen Lowry. I am looking for information about who his father might have been. Thanks, Christie

    3. Christie, Owen Lowrie is in the 1850 census too. He was 40 years old, born in Robeson. He was head of household. Susan Lowrie, age 40, born Brunswick Co, NC. Sarah A. Lowrie, age 19, born Robeson. Wm. Lowrie, age 19, born Robeson. Dian A. Lowrie, age 15, born Robeson. Dames Lowrie, age 12, born Robeson. Susan Lowrie, age 10, born Robeson. John P. Lowrie, age 6, born Robeson. Murdock Lowrie, age 1, born Robeson. Owen Lowrie is living next door to Zion Lowrie and his big family (no wife, probably dead), and one household down from Zion is Daniel Lowrie and his wife Betsey and their family. Nextdoor to Daniel and Betsey is Feriba Lowrie and two little children. All these neighbors were born in Robeson. All this information is from the 1850 census of Robeson Co. As a note, none of these people were living anywhere near Henry Berry Lowrie and his people. Also, the name Murdock is unusual. Henry Berry Lowry's brother Murdock Lowry (sons of Allen Lowry and Mary "Polly" Cumbo), went to Tennessee but I don't know what year. Murdock was born between 1821 and 1848. I'm just going by notes in my deceased brother's notebook. Other folks doing research on HBL's family have probably made more progress. It could be that Dianna never married, but had children. But don't despair--if she owned land she may have either a will or an estate settlement. If she didn't have a will but had land to give to her children, then she probably had an estate settlement. The county would divide the land for the family and give each child his or her fair share. I think Lumberton has some estates records, but the archives in Raleigh definitely has them.
