I am seeking any information possible on Iveys or Newberrys who lived in or around the Wishart area of Robeson County. I believe my great-great-great grandparents were Hugh Newberry (ca 1830-?) and Samerit Ivey Newberry (ca. 1843?-bef. 1910). The research I've conducted thus far shows Samerit's father was a William Ivey, mother was Sarah, both born ca 1811 in North Carolina. I suspect the Iveys may be Lumbee or have some connection to them. Hugh Newberry I cannot locate in any census but the 1860 in this area -- before that I don't know where he was. There was a Joseph Newberry in the 1790 census that could be his grandfather possibly? Am not sure. The children of this couple included: Sarah Newberry Meredith Newberry Right/Wright Newberry ** my great-great grandfather, I believe Lydia Jane Edna Joseph F ** married a Fannie Phillips and perhaps others...
