    3. Note to requestor: These tax lists are unconsistent, if they are anything. . Some lists have no title information, except dates seem to be included on each list. . Some later lists are alphabetical, which can be problematic if you want to determine location of property, identification of neighbors, movement to new property in a different neighborhood, etc. . White women are rarely listed. When they are listed by name it is because they were head of household with underage dependents. White women were not "taxables" so they are not listed generally speaking, at least by name. the 1786 and 1787 lists contain the number of white women in each household. Black women were taxable thus black women are listed, but not by name in the later lists; the earlier lists give names of slaves for a few years. All blacks or "mulattos" were taxable and were listed. Some households appear to be mixed-race households. It is recorded that races intermarried to the annoyance of colonial goverment of the time before the Revolution. . 16 years of age was the legal age until 1784 when legal age became 21 for men and women. If you were of legal age you were a poll and thus were listed. ____ Michael, I'm starting to add the above note to people who request lookups. I won't be doing it for very long because I'm getting a bit overwhelmed!
