    2. Kilmartin - my 5th GGrandfather was a teacher the Ford there. Beautiful area, been there several times. the old home was just between Loch Awe and Loch Ederline. My 4th GGrandfather was in the Highland Infantry (71st, then promoted and transferred to the 74th). He came over in 1778, fought under Cornwallis, wounded several times. Took the oath of allegience to the US after Yorktown, and "set out on foot" to the Gaelic speaking communities of Bladen County (now Robeson county) North Carolina. I'll send a CD tomorrow. 2. Michael, I'd like to know more about the "Gaelic speaking" communities of Bladen County, having grown up in Robeson County but never being aware of my Scottish/Welsh/English ancestry at the time. I suppose all the "transplanted" Scots spoke Gaelic and only later were those in Britain forced to speak English (after the Pretender's defeat). Specifically, what do you know about how the Bladen settlers from Scotland arrived and when? Thanks for any insights.
