Killed on Iwo Jima Word has been received at Hallsboro of the death in action on Iwo Jima Island in the Pacific of Pvt. Robert Pierce Holcomb of the U. S. 4th Marine Division. He is the son of Mrs. and Mrs. F. E. Holcomb of Purvis, Robeson county, and a grandson of Mrs. A. S. Pierce of Hallsboro. He was one of four brothers in the Armed services overseas. He was killed on February 27th.
