This probably doesn't help either, but following is a probate record of John McGill of Richmond co., NC. I know that the John Gilchrist mentioned in the document, and his daughter are both from Robeson county. 1875 December 14. Richmond County Probate Court. John McKay, Administrator of John McGill, deceased, petitions for final account and settlement to Dugald Stewart, the Hon. Judge of Probate for County of Richmond. The names and residences of the heirs and distributees of the said McGill are as follows: John Gilchrist, who resides at Laurinburg, Richmond County, N. C., Daniel McEachin and wife Mary Ann, the heirs at law of Mary Miller, Elizabeth Snipes who resides at Little Rock, South Carolina, and John McGill and Smiley McGill at Okolona, Ark. That, after diligence, he has been unable to find out the Post Office address of any of the other non-resident defendants and that all the defendants, except John Gilchrist, are non-residents and that all of said parties are interested in the administration of the estate committed to the charge of your petitioner < Wherefore, your petitioner prays that a notice may be issued to the defendants herein, and publication be made as to such as are non-residents, that an account may be had and taken as to the administration of the personal estate and also of the assets from the sale of real estate. That the account of your petitioner be passed upon and that there be a settlement of the whole estate in the hands of your petitioner. That a decree for distribution of the surplus, if any there be, be passed and that there be a settlement of the estate of the intestate and for such other further relief as the nature and circumstances of the case may require and your petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray. John McKay. Estate Recs.1772-1933 CR.082.508.37 I am interested in the relationship between the McGill family and the Gilchrists (Eliz. Gilchrist m. Nelson Snipes). Bill Snipes
