    2. Robert, The book refers to that area in Alabama as Clay Cty. My copy of the book was given to me by my parents by way of an uncle in Lumberton. If I find out how to get a Copy I will let you know. now for the second installment. Around 1855 in the community of Melrose near Maxton.The post office for this area was in the home of "Juniper Bill" McMillan and served among others the Gilchrist family. In the early days of the county before churches were built visiting preachers would deliver their sermons in someones home and in 1757 church services were held in the home of John McMillan. In 1801 four new Presbyterian ministers were licensed to preach, among these four was Murdoch McMillan. More to follow. Tom
