Harold McMillan published a theory in 1888 that said in effect that the Lumbee Indians were the descendants of the lost colony from Roanoke Island. The theory still holds water today. During the revolutionary war Christian McMillan who came to this country from Scotland and had no medical training was the only person who could act as physician in the Scottish Territory. She traveled on horseback and tende people from Rowland to Parkton,about 40 miles.. In 1790 there were 19 McMillan families in Robeson Cty, 4 were named John. Some of the Mcmillans left Robeson in the 1830s and settled in Brownville,Clay Cty,Alabama. The town became known as "Little Scotland" Will send more soon, Tom
