I am looking for any info on an Emelia Jane HAWL born about 1834 in NC who married Alexander Willoughby in 1853. I found her maiden name HAWL in the NC marriage records microfiche. There are no Hawls in the Robeson 1850 or 1860 census records. My thinking is that her name may not have been recorded correctly or transcribed incorrectly - I have looked at all soundex equivalents of Hawl with no luck. She apparently died between 1860-1870 per the Robeson County census, as Alexander Willoughby lives alone with their children James Leonard and Susan Harriett in the 1870 census. Would love to know if anyone has an Emelia Jane about age 16 in the 1850 Robeson County census. Thanks! Beth
