    1. [NCROBESO-L] Re: [NCROBESO-L Raft Swamp Presbyterian Church../ Daniel Brown
    2. The Article states further on some of the preachers: "Daniel Brown was the son of 'Tory' Neil Brown and Sarah McPhaul. After finishing he was sent by the Synod of North Carolina to the Natchez Territory as a missionary. From his letters to his father, that must have been a rough and wild place. Completing his missionary work, he returned home and was called and accepted to the pastorate at Philadelphus as their first full time minister. After his pastorate at Philadelphus, he went to Williamsburgh District, South Carolina, near Kingstree where he preached at two churches, Kintyre and Indiantown. Being notified of the illness of his mother, he came to Robeson to visit and while here his mother died. Two weeks to the day after his mother died, he died on Aug. 18, 1815. Both are buried in the pre-Revolutionary graveyard behind Phillippi Church in Hoke county. He married Catherine McPherson, daughter of Rev. Daniel McPherson and Sarah McNeil. She outlived him many years and is buried at Antioch"
