Hi All: Thanks to everyone who responded to my query! The trip went well - I got to meet some long-lost cousins, find the graves of my gggg-grandparents in the woods behind a turkey farm (picking up a couple of ticks in the process), and spend a whole week engaged in genealogy research. Most of my time was spent in the Lumberton Library, where they have 4 file cabinets full of genealogy info, the Scottish Heritage Center at St. Andrew's College in Laurinburg, where they have lots of Scottish research material, and a full two days at the NC State Archives in Raleigh, where I was lucky enough to meet one of the true angels of NC genealogy, Myrtle Bridges. It's amazing how much faster the clocks spin in these places than they do elsewhere! I just wish I had had another week, though I'm sure even that would have not been enough. Now, I'm off to digest the 2 inch stack of photocopies I brought back. Jeffrey
