    3. Being an ancestor of the early Dr. James Adair , whose daughter #1 Sara Ann (b. 1743)married Wm. McTyre, daughter #2 Elizabeth Hobson(b. 1745)married John Cade, #3 daughter Agnes married John Gibson, ...I thought someone on this list might enjoy reading about the early days of Dr. Adair on the following web site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9708/james.html. A marker, put there by the Colonial Dames, is located in Rowlands,NC near U.S. 301 at its Juct. w/ SR 71, Ashpole Cem., eastern side of Mitchell's Creek. Adair served as surgeon to Gen Francis Marion's army during the Rev. War, but was widely known for his book on his claims that the American Indian was descended from one of the lost tribes of Israel. It is said with some authority that he had at least one Indian wife, maybe more, after his wife, Clark Hobson, who he married in July29, 1740 in Northumberland Co.,VA. died. My line comes down through his daughter Sara Ann and her husband, Wm. McTyre's child, Katrain, who married James Alford. Joanne Harley N.C. [email protected]
