I am searching for Pittman information from Robeson County. Does this have any other information on Pittman. Thanks Lois Moore
Hi, Lois, There is only the one PITMAN name mentioned in with my uncle's history of Duncan Cornelius LOWE. Sally PITMAN, who married Willie PREVATTE, s/o Orpha LOWE and Rabe PREVATTE. (Orpha was the eldest girl and my great grand-aunt.) Uncle Nash doesn't say any more than that. He doesn't have a marriage date for Orpha and Rabe, nor birth dates or wedding dates for their children, nor who the parents of the spouses were. Uncle Nash does cite the following marriages registered in the Deeds office: Thomas LOE and Ellena WATERS on 27 Aug 1816 William HEDGEPETH and Apsley LOE on 2 Nov 1827 with Neill BUIE as witness. Ebenezer HAYS and Amey LOE on 6 Dec 1827, Neill BUIE as witness. Charles BRITT and Charity LOE on 29 April 1826 with Neill BUIE and Stephen LOE as witnesses. James PURVIS and Reedy LOE on 19 July 1830 Duncan Cornelius LOE and Mary SMALL on 15 July 1857, Cornelius LOE witness. William WALTERS and Sarah Ann LOE 15 May 1847 William IVEY and Amelia LOE 28 Dec 1858 William HEDGEPETH, s/o Arthur HEDGEPETH moved to Robeson Co from Edgecomb Co and had a brother also named Arthur. William and Apsey had 10 children., one of whom was Daniel, who married Eliza PURVIS, d/o James PURVIS and Bedie ATKINSON. Eliza PURVIS HEDGEPETH married Jessie FLOWERS after Daniel's death. Daniel and Eliza were the parents of the Rev Ippy PURVIS HEDGEPETH. Duncan Cornelius LOE and Mary SMALL were married by the Rev Elias DAVIS JOHNSON with Cornelius LOE and Thomas A NORMENT as bondsmen. The witness was B FREEMAN. A deed is found in which Cornelius LOE bought land from Alexander McCLEAN. No more PITMAN's, I'm afraid.
