There was a Richard Brown who had a bond to marry Effy McDougald on March 1, 1805, in Robeson County. I have been unable to locate him before or after this date. Was he related to either of the Thomas Browns? Thanks, Annette
Does anyone have a list of the children of Gen. Thomas Brown? I am having a hard time separating his line from my Thomas Brown line. Thanks! John

I meant to add that there was a Josiah Brown, connection unknown, who bought several item in the estate sale of Nancy Anderson Brown in 1824. I believe that he may be related and would like to find anyone who has information about him. He may have lived in either Marlboro Co. or then Richmond Co. John
I have been searching for a long time to find a connection to my Edmund Brown, b. c1740, who married Nancy Anderson and I had a major find Thursday in a book of Bladen Co., NC tax lists. Edmund Brown bought land from Joseph Oates on 24 Sep 1771 in Bladen (now Robeson) County, NC and that the deed was witnessed by Thomas Brown and Charles Barfield. I have long thought that Thomas Brown was either Edmund's father or brother but had no proof. Well here may well be the proof! "Bladen County, North Carolina Tax Lists, 1768-1774, Vol. I," compiled by William L. Byrd III, self-published, 1998 pg. 4 1768 Bladen County Tax List, Archibald McKissack's District "Thomas Brown and two sons Edmond and Thomas", 3 whites From this it looks like Edmund Brown's father was Thomas Brown and that he had a brother, Thomas Brown, Jr. I should add that this is not the famous Col. Thomas Brown of Rev. War fame as my Browns lived near Marietta near the SC border in what is now Robeson County. Their neighbors included the Barefields and the Taylors. About 1780 Edmund Brown moved to Marlboro Co. SC and lived on Panther Creek and the NC border. He had land in both Marlboro Co., SC and Richmond (now Scotland) Co., NC. He was active in the Beauty Spot Baptist Church in Marlboro. Edmund died 1821 in Marlboro Co. and Nancy died 1824. Their children were: Jesse Anderson Brown m. Obedience Leggett, Selah (Celia?) who married a JAMES, James BROWN, Henry BROWN, Sarah "Sally" who married John PARKER, Edmund Brown, Jr., Nancy who married Elias PATE, and Charlotte who married John GRAHAM, Jr. Most moved on to Tennessee for a brief period and then on to Alabama by 1830. Would love to share information with anyone with connections to these families. I am especially looking for anything on Thomas Brown. John Brown
Seeking any information on a McRoy family living in/near Robeson Co. during the 1920's. Supposedly the husband's name was Henry; he was married and had two small boys around 1927. He was a night watchman/security guard at a cotton mill. The last name could be MacRoy, MacElroy, McCroy, etc. I have reason to believe the cotton mill he worked at was in Lumberton. If anyone has access to Lumberton/Robeson Co. directories and would be willing to look up Henry McRoy in the mid 1920's I would appreciate it. I have checked the censuses and can only find African American McRoys, but believe mine was white. ANY leads appreciated! Thanks much. Karen McPherson Palm Bay, FL
I should have added that she was born before 1908 because Betty her daughter was born then. Lewis Bascom Rowell, ( 1889 - 1965 ), was the son of David Stuart Rowell and Mary Ann Huggins. He had a sister named Asalee, and I was wondering if he may have had a daughter named Azalee who lived in Dillon Co., S. C. I think he lived in Lumberton, and his nickname was "Bass". Any help will be appreciated. Feel free to contact me in private at _Cratus13@aol.com_ (mailto:Cratus13@aol.com) . Thank you, Christie
Hi, I am having a hard time finding out where most of these individuals are from. They are all on family. I have found in the North Carolina Birth Index that they had twins in 1917 in Robeson Co. I cannot get any other proof that that is where all of them are from. Any help sorting through this would be greatly appreciated. Mom: Maggie McPhaul born in NC Dad: Charles McKinnon born in NC Daughter: Betty Lee Mckinnon born 1908 in NC died 9 Feb 1967 in Philadelphia, PA. Thanks, Anna Adams
Does anyone know the best way / place to request an obituary from 1934, for a resident of Pembroke? Does the library have an obituary collection? (Name of library? Phone or address? Fees?) Are there newspapers on file somewhere? Are there any volunteers on the list who know where to look and would do so? I'd be happy to pay copying and postage fees. Thanks!
