Lewis CAMPBELL shows up in the 1900 census with a different wife than Amanda, but has a son named Worth with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. A Manda Covington shows up on the bottom of the page but she is married to a William COVINGTON at that time. As a point of interest to you, Anna, there is a grandson to this William COVINGTON listed as McKinnon COVINGTON, age 1 in the home. Contact me off list if you want this COVINGTON data. Anyway, here is the 1900 Census for Lewis "COMBELL" as it is spelled. COMBELL, Lewis, head b Apr 1868, age 35 is married 11 yrs. He is a teamster reads and writes. Mary McBride/McBryde 1783-1875. B NC lived in Robeson Co NC. Believe her father was Archibald McBride whose wife was Margaret Wilkerson/Wilkinson. Does anyone have any information about this family. I do not believe that this is the Archibald in the Lumber River Scots unless someone left out some of his children which is possible in collecting information for any book. Mary married Angus McAllum/McCallum and they removed to Macon GA (Bibb Co.) about 1823 and were charter members of the First Presbyterian Church of Macon GA. I believe that her brother was Nevin/Levin McBride/McBryde. Their children were: Mary B. (b 1817 m. John A. Sperry-- they lived at Marshalville GA), Susan Council (wonder what the relationship to the Council family of Robeson Co NC was? m Joel T Cherry buried Liberty Methodist Church, Bibb Co GA), Catherine( m. Abel C. Parmalee), Eliza (1826 -1907, m John Westley Calhoun, buried Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Houston Co. GA, Houston is adjacent Bibb Co),Margaret( 1815-1831), Archibald (1810-1876 m Sarah Ware, lived in Twiggs Co GA). Thank you for your time. betty in ga

Hi, I have Worth CAMPBELLs obituary Thant his parent's names were Lewis CAMPBELL and Amanda Covington CAMPBELL, that he had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. They lived in Lumber Bridge. Can someone help me find the names of the sibblings? Thanks, Anna Adams
In response to the query, >>I am looking for information on Maggie McPhaul McKinnon The 1880 censuses shows the following Maggie McPHAUL, which may or may not be "yours." Note that the entire family is shown as White, as opposed to the 1910 census where Charles and Maggie (McPHAUL?) McKINNON were both shown as Black. This doesn't necessarily mean she is not the same person in these two censuses, but caution is called for (and more research). My LOWERY's were variously shown as mulatto, Indian, and white. They were living in Blue Springs, Robeson County, ED 17, sheet 14, household 114. Daniel K. In response to the following query, and others about wife Maggie... >>I am looking for information on Charles McKinnon According to the 1930 census, he lived in Lumber Bridge North Carolina. I have been unable to find out where he was born, when he was Where he died When he died When he married Maggie McPhaul One of his children's names is Betty L. McKinnon I can't find out what his 2 children's names are. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Anna Adams ----- The 1910 census shows the following: Lumber Bridge Twp, Robeson County, NC, ED 105, sheet 1B, household 9. McKINNON, Charlie, Head. Male, black, 37, first marriage, married for 16 years, born in NC (as were his parents), farmer, general farm, on his own account, renting. -------------, Mag, Wife, female, black, 36, first marriage, married for 16 years, had borne 8 children, 8 still living, NC NC NC. ------------, Mary L., Dau, 15. -----------, Neil A., son, 13 ------------, Atlanta, dau, 11 ----------, Bettie, dau, 8 ----------, Sarah, dau, 6 -----------, Lizzie, dau, 4 ------------, Charles W., son, 2 ------------, Tinnie (?) M., dau, 7/12 All born in NC. Notes: I have found that in most censuses almost everyone says they were born in NC and so were their parents. This is not, however, always accurate--though it usually is. On the same page there is a Jim McKinnon with wife and family that look the right age to be a brother to Charles. Based on the ages in the census, Charles was born about 1873, Maggie about 1874, Bettie about 1902, and they were married about 1894. Susan --------------------------------- Yahoo! why dont you send the picture you have so we all can see it...
I was hoping that someone might have a picture of Mrs. Bessie Sinclair Smith, who lived in the Wakulla community of Robeson County. Bessie was born in 1897 and was the daughter of Daniel Patrick Sinclair and Lillie O'Brien Sinclair. She was married to Hoyle Smith, and she died in 1981 in Waco, N. C. I have a picture of her when she posed with her parents and brother, John, when she was little, but I would love to have a picture of her when she was an adult. She did not like to have her picture taken, so a picture of her is rare. Thank you, Christie
Hi, Linda, I can't help you, but I sure would be interested to know if a Samuel JOHNSON appears anywhere in your research? The reason I'm asking is because my 3x ggf was Samuel Johnson (not the governor), b ca 1784 in Bladen Co.and who married Sarah DAVIS and who may have been a brother to the Daniel and Joel about whom you are inquiring, but we can't prove it. My uncle is the family historian, and he has been trying to find a connection for years, but has been unable to do so. Samuel and Sarah had a son named Daniel, b 1825 in Bladen Co and who married Mary Ann BUTLER. They certainly could have had one named Joel, but there is no documentation that proves it. Another of their sons, my 2x ggf, Elias DAVIS JOHNSON, b 1828, married Sarah Caroline HUMPHREY and they had sons named Joel Matthew, b 1856 and Daniel Riley, my ggf, b 1860, and logic would indicate they were named for their uncles or great-uncles, but we don't know that. I wish I could have helped answer your question, but maybe my family is another link to yours. They stayed in Bladen and Robeson Co, tho and Uncle Nash is not aware of a TN connection. Daniel Johnson between 1812 to 1818 in NC and Joel Johnson born 1813 to 1815 in NC. Now I am looking for the father and mother and grandparents to these two Johnson's. Maybe in Rutherford Co., NC or Cumberland Coo., NC and then Bloden Co., NC then Buncombe Co., NC. Now I know they were in McMinn Co., TN in 1827 as children. There was a Daniel Johnson who was awarded land in McMinn Co., TN then. Maybe he is the father? Then in the 1830 census report of McMinn Co. There was a Joel Johnson listed as being 50-60 years old..He could have been the father. The number on the census was MC 120 in 1840. Then on the 1840 census was a # MC111 that lists a Joel Johnson as being 30-40 years old with a wife and a male child 0-5 years old. Also on the 1940 census # MC111 was a Daniel Johnson with a wife. They both moved to Bradley co., TN. Daniel and his wife moved in 1850 where Joel Johnson moved in 1840. I sure could use some people who have access to these Counties census in those years. They may be related to the William Johnston Family born 1728. His wife is Elizabeth Hutcheson 1730. He was born in Goochland Co.VA..married 1749 in New Kent, VA He died in 1767 in Charlotte Co., VA. They had 9 children all born in VA. Mary Johnson April 1748 Elliner Born Sept 21, 1750 Usly Born Jan. 20, 1752 Daniel Johnson born Oct. 10, 1754 Thomas Johnson Born 1756 William Johnson born 1758-age 54 when Daniel Johnson was born. Sure could use some expert census readers help here in finding exactely when and Where in NC they were born...then who was their parents who took them to McMinn Co., TN in 1827?
