    2. Annette Rawls
    3. I am researching my gggrandmother, Jane Paul (b. c1796, d. c1817), who was 1st wife of James Miller and lived in Chester, SC. Their dau., Jennett(e) W. Miller m. William Boyd in Chester Co. I believe that Jane Paul's father was William Paul who may have had roots in Robeson Co., (since it just across the state line from Chester Co.) and that William was the son of William or Abraham Paul. 2. I am requesting a lookup - My great grandfather was born in Robeson Co. His name was Bogan Manuel McQuage, born on April 25, 1890. If someone would look up his birth certificate and get a copy I would appreciate it so much. Of course I would pay for the copy and postage as necessary. Thank you, Kim

    3. Hi Stephen - I think I've found the unknown girl's family. She was listed as niece with a surname that appeared to be Bullard, so I checked earlier census for Hattie's family, then looked for her brothers in 1910. None had daughters with that, or a similar name. Melvin was missing. 1900 census showed his wife as Fannie. 1910 census showed Fannie, widowed, with 3 daughters, the youngest named "Pary" age 3. The 1920 census appears to read "Perrie." The name is unusual, so it's hard to tell exactly how it's spelled. This confirms that the little boy's surname was Bullard, with an unreadable first name, or at least the census taker indicated his last name was the same. Miller Hi Stephen - If you will look again at the 1920 census, you will see two children, listed last, not Millers, but a different last name that is the same for both children. Neither first nor last names are readable, but one is a niece age 12 and the other a grandson age 4. Claude would have been 4 since the census was enumerated in Jan & he would not have been 5 until July The closest I could come to their surname is Bullard. There is a Claud Bullard born 1891 in Smiths in Robeson Co on the 1930 census. He married in 1918. This is only a guess as a possible father. It's possible that the Claude you are trying to connect with your Millers was this young child on the 1920 census and either he was legally adopted or simply used the surname of Miller. Maybe they adopted both children. If you are unable to read the census record, you could order the microfilm from either your local Family History Center or library. There is a chance it might be more readable, especially if you darken it a bit with the film machine. It's likely that the child no longer living in the 1920 census died either at birth or soon after was between Lela and Willie (1898-1901). That's the only place there's a 3-year gap between children that I saw. Possibly this infant was buried somewhere around Thompson and I'm sure that one of the good folks with Peggy's "Vanishing Ancestor" books would check the local cemeteries for you. I hope some of these thoughts send you in the right direction. Good luck!
