This list has been too quiet lately. I know this is a "no-no" on some lists, but would like to suggest people email their surnames and brick walls to the list. I'm researching Wiley (Wm.) Paul/Paull b. abt 1803-5., m. Rebecca Bigs in Robeson in 1829. They're in 1830 census there and in 1840 Madison Co. TN census. Would like to know where they were in between. Also, would love any verification of his parents. I know he was of the family of Abraham Paull, but can't prove who his father was-although I strongly suspect it was Abraham lll & Amelia. Any help appreciated. Regards. Linda

I was just in Whitehouse Township on Saturday. It is alive and well regardless of what you may read. If you take Hwy 41 South out of Fairmont toward SC you'll drive right through the heart of it. Where Hwy 41 and 904 intersect is Whitehouse Township. They still have a volunteer Fire Department and all. Call information and get the phone number to the Probation Office in Lumberton. Call and ask to speak with John Bare. John has lived in Whitehouse Township all his life and can probably tell you about anything you need to know! Mark
Due to the high demand of requests for look ups and information on Bess's books, (Marriage and Death Notices from the Fayetteville Observer 1816-1840 and 1841-1850) I have redesigned her webpage to include the full name index for both books. You will also find information concerning ordering these books. White House Township no longer is in existance. This is the area of presentday Fairmont and Marietta Townships in lower Robeson Co NC. Originally White House Township was White House District, and it was known for the "White House" which was then occupied by the Lee family. You have to know that back in the early 1800's there were mostly weathered boards or just plain logs, and to put paint on your house was considered "something"!
