The town of Rowland,NC is named for Alfred Rowland. He served in the 18th NC Regiment during War of Northern Aggression 1861-1865 and later served in US Congress. His family is rich in history. Away Down Home is an entertaining history of Robeson County from the first settlers through the Civil War. It mentions some early families, but is not a good source for genealogy other than where some familles located. Proceeds go to the preservation of the 150+ year old Humphrey-Williams-Smith Plantation outside of Lumberton, NC. Joanne

Howard - Myrtle - Great Site and I enjoyed the pictures (McNeill cemetery near Snead's Grove). This is the area I suspect John Calvin Norton's father may have come from. His mother (a McMillan) may be from Robeson Co. Sam Norton
Who owned GW Page grocery and is it a family that has been in that area for a long time? When did it begin and when did it no longer exist? Christina Page
Hello! I am a Hammond/ Robeson Co. descendent and Thomas Jackson married Azenith, the fifth child of John Hammond and Christian (?). I have little on the Jackson line except that Cornelius was the son of Azenith and Thomas. I am very interested in your Hammond line and willing to exchange.
