They have the best genealogy section in two states! ktHill

Jeffery--go by the Robeson County Public Library in Lumberton. They have a very good genealogy room. Thanks Chuck, I had heard of the town named Rowland, but so far, Alfred is not my direct line. I guess it is one of his brothers. I don't have Alfred's birth date so I can't tell which generation he is from. Nor do I even have him listed anywhere now. According to a cousin, my line is John Rowland 1565 to Thomas 11590 and Scolis, (I know there are some who also say John married Scolis) John1615, George 1640, John 1622 and Elizabeth Hampton, Andrew and Ruth Norman, John 1705 to James 1725 and Elizabeth ?, James Needham 1749 and ___", James Needom 1771 and Elizabeth Curl, and my third great grandfather Needham and Louisa Carter Rowland.. From James Needham, 1749 down, I can verify as the correct lineage. Above James 1749, I myself have not verified. That is what I am now working on. If you are a Rowland researcher, I'd appreciate your input Joyce ----- Original Message ----- From: Charles R Ivey <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 28, 2000 11:15 AM Subject: Re: [NCROBESO-L] Away Down Home Books/Johnson J. I am searching for Sessoms/Baxley/Brigman/Bryant/Smith/Glare and associated families from Robeson and Bladen County. Could anyone else be doing the same. Thank you Lois Moore
Hi All: Well, I've booked my plane ticket, and I'm finally going to visit Robeson Co. for the first time. I'll be attending a McEachin family reunion and then spending a week doing research. Can anyone recommend places to go? Also, is there anything in the courthouse that's worth looking at that isn't available on microfilm? Thanks! Jeffrey
I have just subscribed to this list today. Could you tell me about this book? Thanks, Lois
Hi Lois, I have quite a bit of info on the ancestors of Troy Anderson Baxley, b. Dec 1880, m. Vonnie L. Snipes in Robeson county. I also have Alatha Bridgman, b. 1919 in Robeson (buried in Pleasant Hope Baptist Church cemetery, Fairmont, NC). Do either of these connect? We need to get this off the website and into personal websites. I repeat again, this is a very interesting history of Robeson County. Some early families listed and occupations and offices held by early settlers. Very good source for the forming of the county, but not of later settlers. Joanne
Could you please check to see if there is a Giles Williams listed? Also any Brights or Nichols families. If they are I would love to purchase the book. Thanks so much for your time and efforts. Mary Alice in Fl.
A lot of Britts, but no Watts Book does not deal with genealogy, but mainly history of the county from early settlers through Civil War.

Margaret McDuffie was the daughter of Norman and Christian Morrison and was named in Norman's will dated 3-1829 Robeson Co, N.C. She was a sister to Mary Morrison that married Duncan Hughes that moved top Montgomery Co, Ga. Another sister Sarah married Elias Wilkes and also moved to Montgomery Co, GA I will be happy to share info on these families. I have no info on Margaret McDuffie and would like to correspond with anyone concerning that family. BO Mosley Macon, Georgia
