Hi, Jennifer, My uncle, the Reverend Nash Odom, wrote a history of Raft Swamp Baptist Church in 1961, in which foreward he states that a summary of the history will be in the association minutes of the Robeson Association for the year of 1961. Uncle Nash's history is not very long, only about 25 type written pages. Was there something special you had in mind to know? I have a copy which Nash gave me some time ago, which I can check out for you. Also the Raft Swamp Baptist Church minutes are on microfilm from the LDS church FHC, film # 0986268, item 6. There are other churches on this film as well, but I don't know what they are. Hi, Does anyone have the history of Raft Swamp? I know the churh was founded by James Prevatt. But I thought I heard there was a story written about the church's history.

Richard, The Ashpole Presbyterian Church is about two miles west of Roland, N. C. Turn left off Hwy. 501 at cross roads and the church is on the right with the cemetery on the left about a half mile from the cross roads. That's close. I'm not too good at directiions. Hi, Joanne, There are many BAXLEYS, ROZIERS and MUSSELWHITES in my ODOM/JOHNSON family, but I have only one RICE, Thurman LASSITER RICE, who married my grandmother's sister, Etta LEE JOHNSON. (Emma and Etta were dtrs of Daniel JOHNSON and Emma Frances CARLISLE). My father became friends with an A J RICE, and I was wondering if you knew of this A J or even of Thurman? My father was killed during WW II and was from Phila, so he had to have met A J after meeting my mother. I believe A J to have been a cousin to my mother. Hello Joanne. I have some info on the McTyer's 1790 forward, with most info after 1830. Mostly on William McTyer descendants. I have found several cousins scattered around the country. So the timeframe prior to 1800 is sketchy, that is until I uncovered the Harlee Kinfolk Books at the Charlotte Library. While I don't use any particular family research program, I can accept email/attachments. Most of my search has been in Marion, SC & Marlboro County. It wasn't until I read some of Harlee works that I was a little too far south, although the McTyer family did eventually reside there. I was wrong about the Fairfield's. This was James Adairs home at one time in what is now present day Greene County, NC. I am curious however about the location of the Ashpole Church in Robeson County s referenced on page 1238 in Harlee's Kinfolks. I would also like to purchase these books. Where can I find them? Thank you. Richard Harris Charlotte, NC
How much did kinfolks cost you? I'm considering purchasing that book as well as the some book on the Page's of the Carolinas.... C. I also have more on the Mctyre line as well. I have recently bought Vol 1 & 2 of Harllee's KINFOLKS, but do not have Vol 3. Are you using any particular genealogy program? I have family tree maker. I can also use WORD programs for sending stuff. I usually do a family report and send it as an attachment on an email. I have read a good bit on James Adair on the Adair GenForum. He apparently has a lot of descendants. I just bought a book on Robeson "Away Down Home" written on the history of Robeson and it mentioned that the Colonial Dames had put a marker up at Dr. Adairs buriel spot. What do you have and what do you need? I was not familiar with Fairfields. Joanne H. That is why I thought it would be nice for Jeffrey to run into Sam. I think it'd be nice too. :) Thanks to everyone for their input & encouragement! I believe that between Henry Hodgin's papers & Gov. McLean's papers (he had a McEachin grandmother), I'll probably be busy all week. :) Oh yes, one more Q: how is the Scottish Heritage Center at St. Andrew's Presb. College over in Laurinburg? Thanks again! Jeffrey
No, you did not ask about our Moore line. I am looking for Duncan Moore, born 1799, m. Catherine, son of Edward and ?. I am not sure where they are from - I think Nash County. My husbands line ended up in Arkansas by way of Alabama. Lois
