    3. Again Thanks alot Lynn, I appreciate your trying to help me out, and yes as you said it is definately worth checking out. Especially since I can't find them anywhere in Robeson Co., N.C. The only thing is Ellen Jane Yates obituary, in Robeson stating she was brought to Robeson Co., N.C. from Utica, MS. to live with Johnsie Floyd her grandfather after her parent's death. But who knows maybe they are the uncles who brought her by wagon train. And possiably Johnsie moved there after Ellen got married or something. Anyhow again thanks and at least I have a new avenue to check out. Debby [email protected] Lynn Prettyman wrote: > Hi, Deb! > > I got so excited that I almost fell off the chair! 3. Hi, Deb! I got so excited that I almost fell off the chair! You already know that one of those parents' names was not right, so it doesn't surprise me that you may only have half a name in what we have previously discussed, but here is what I found. I was going thru the Vanishing Ancestors searching for someone else, and this just jumped right off the page at me, swear to God, it did! There is a TOWNSEND family plot in Five Forks Baptist Church cemetery and there is an inscription for a Floyd TOWNSEND. This is how Peggy has transcribed it. The () are her comments. Floyd TOWNSEND (Johnson FLOYD) B March 1, 1892 D Oct 9, 1967 (son of Noel and Venie TOWNSEND) Now obviously, he is too late for your Johnsie FLOYD, but I decided to look up TOWNSEND in my 1850 census, and I found a slew Of TOWNSENDS on one page and a page of MORRISONS and a YATES and still another page with TOWNSEND and MORRISON on it, in Cabbarus county. There was a Pinkney TOWNSEND, 33, whose family consisted of Mary, 39, Esther E ROSS, 41 and Mary I TOWNSEND,10. There was James H TOWNSEND, 48, whose family was Martha, 44, Ann SMITH, 76, John N W TOWNSEND,18, Sarah Ann,17, Martha E ,13, William W W ,11, Isabel I, 10, Mary S, 6 and Pinkney F P TOWNSEND, 3. There was also a Pinkney MORRISON, 35, whose family consisted of Elizabeth C, 31, Samuel DAVIS, 9, Leroy M, 5, Elizabeth A, 3, Elam E, 1 and what looks to read Riller MITCHELL (F), 21. On a different page was a bunch of MORRISONS, but what stuck out was a YATES family: Willington YATES, 31 and his family, Crissida, 24 and Mary M, 4 mos. On a third page was J F W TOWNSEND, 39, with his family, Rachel Frazier, 60, Martha E TOWNSEND, 16 and Sarah I, 13. I know you are in a bind with trying to find your people, but just maybe you did have still another wrong name, in that MORRISON could be the Uncle "Morrie" you haven't been able to find. Anyway, I thought it was worth checking into. It just seemed a coincidence to me to find Pinkney in those two families out of the clear blue sky like that. 3. Slyvia, W is for William, but the B is only a guess. My 2 x grandfather's mother was Martha BULLOCK, but Berry is another name that crops up in my ODUM line, and I don't even know if it should be BERRY, since that is a legitimate last name, or just Berry, as a Christian name. I cannot document any one with that last name as a direct relative in my line. One of my pet peeves in genealogy is the use of initials instead of names! Until last year, all I knew of my great uncles' name was two initials: W C Odum, J D ODUM, H M Odum, L P ODUM. Now I ask you, how is one supposed to know who they are? William's children aren't much better: Farney A, H. P. and Charlie W ODUM. It's no wonder we can't tie one family into another. I will get your copy of Raft Swamp in the mail tomorrow. 1. Re: [NCROBESO-L] Two Henrys
    2. One of my grandmothers had two sisters named Sarah. The father of the first Sarah died in the War Between the States, and her mother remarried and named another daughter Sarah. The two Sarahs went by their middle names, but on the census records (in Alabama) they were both listed as Sarah. In a message dated 00-06-11 13:49:29 EDT, you write: << The fact that the two Henry are 22 years apart makes it seem unlikely that they are children of the same parents. The one born 1850 might be a grandson. Where were the two Henrys in 1860? >>

Sometimes they did when the one born earlier had died young, I have seen this more in New england than in the south, seems like southerners were more of a superstitious lot and didn't want to call down bad luck on the second child. The fact that the two Henry are 22 years apart makes it seem unlikely that they are children of the same parents. The one born 1850 might be a grandson. Where were the two Henrys in 1860?
