Bill, how do I find the family finder index? I am really new to genealogy so this may be a dumb question. Tammy, I am also looking for Rozier family members in Robeson County, NC. My great grandmother was Martha A. Rozier, b. 4 Mar 1837 and d. 26 Feb 1899. She was the daughter of Alfred Rozier, b. @ 1797 and married Nelly Drewry @ 23 Feb 1824 (date of license) in Robeson County. I do not have any other info on Alfred or Nelly and would appreciate any help. My mother said there was a Rueben Rozier who had been married twice and one of his wives was a Musselwhite. I cannot confirm this or how he ties in. Mother is gone and this was told me a long time ago but I got the impression that Reuben was a direct line grandfather. I wish I had written down all the things she told me or taped it. I wasn't into genealogy until after Christmas 1999. I have found a Reuben Rozier married to Helen Rice @ 22 Feb 1838 (license date); and also a Reuben Rozier married to Mary Ann Patterson @ 14 Jan 1852 (license date). I found a Shadrack Rozier married to Sarah Ann Musselwhite @ 11 Oct. 1823 (license date). All these in Robeson County, NC. I do not know how this relates and am trying to tie it in with Mother's info so long ago. I hope that this will help you. If you have any Rozier information I would love to have it. Thank you, Lois Moore

Hi Tammy, I don't have any Roziers, but in the Family Finder Index there is a Family Tree CD, vol 11, which has Rueben Rozier, Musselwhite, Humphries and Prevatt which are all Robeson county names. It would be a good thing to look at. Can someone tell me from where the Buie family originated?
One large branch of the Buie family originated in the Isle of Jura, Scotland. Hi All: Thanks to everyone who responded to my query! The trip went well - I got to meet some long-lost cousins, find the graves of my gggg-grandparents in the woods behind a turkey farm (picking up a couple of ticks in the process), and spend a whole week engaged in genealogy research. Most of my time was spent in the Lumberton Library, where they have 4 file cabinets full of genealogy info, the Scottish Heritage Center at St. Andrew's College in Laurinburg, where they have lots of Scottish research material, and a full two days at the NC State Archives in Raleigh, where I was lucky enough to meet one of the true angels of NC genealogy, Myrtle Bridges. It's amazing how much faster the clocks spin in these places than they do elsewhere! I just wish I had had another week, though I'm sure even that would have not been enough. Now, I'm off to digest the 2 inch stack of photocopies I brought back. Jeffrey
In 1998, Linda Parramore Culpepper completed her masters thesis at Western Carolina University (Cullowhee) entitled "Blood, the Tie that Binds: The Role of the Scottish Clans in North Carolina Loyalism during the Revolutionary Era". I would like to get in touch with Ms. Culpepper and would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows her. I would hope that some group would be interested in publishing her thesis which should be of great interest to those with Scottish ancestors in North Carolina. I am looking for information on the Robeson Co. Williamson's. My great grandfather was Thomas James Williamson born in 1825 (Sampson Co. I think) He was living in Robeson Co. in 1850 working as a overseer on a plantation. His first wife was Mary Catharine Morrison, married in 1847. He has a brother named William Williamson, born in Robeson Co. 1820 according to his Mexican War records. William married Effy Morrison, sister of Catharine. The children and Effy are buried in Robeson Co. NC. William died in Moble Ala. Thomas mover to Henry Co. Ala. app. 1855-1860. His first wife died and he remarried to Sarah Eva Hodder. I believe that the mother of Thomas and William was Mary ? from Duplin Co. NC. On the 1880 Henry Co. Ala. census Thomas James Williamson said that he father was from Scotland. I am looking for a link to his father. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William Williamson [email protected]
Seeking info on ALLEN/ALLAN TAYLOR, b. 1790 in NC. place unknown. Married Susannah Moore, Oct , 1819 in Robeson County, NC, had 10 children. Trying to locate who his parents were as well as who Susannah Moore's parents were. They left Robeson County, NC sometime after 1830 and went to Butler County, AL. This is my major brickwall. Would like to find where a daughter of theirs was buried: Emeline was born April 26, 1823, died July 1, 1824. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Diana [email protected]
Myrtle Bridges has posted the 1812 Bethesda Presbyterian Church membership roster on her genealogy page at: http://home.att.net/~hbridges/1812beth.htm It will be much easier to receive the information from this source than from me as an attachment. The letter that serves as an introduction to the membership list was written by Evander McNair Graham (1836-1908). I don't believe this information is given on Myrtle's genealogy page. Doug, Yes there is a history of Bethesda. PINE AND THISTLE; Two Hundred Years: Bethesda Presy Ch. by David J Calari published by the church . I saw this in a review in 1990,at that time the bk was available from the church at 1002 N Sandhills Blvd, Aberdeen 28315. There was a earlier one too. OLD BETHESDA At the Head of Rockfield pub 1933 by Bion H. Butler. Hope this helps you. Sorry I didn't make it clearer- I meant the death certificates of any of his grandchildren- it might give you a clue where Herndons are buried. Check the death dates of any of his children ( if after 1913 ) to find out where they were buried. peggy [email protected] wrote: > Thanks, Peggy. I would also like to see the list since all my family was from Robeson and Bladen County or nearby. Lois
Doug, Although I don't know that my people were members of Bethesda Church, I would really like to see that list. My people in Robeson County included McKay, Galbreath and Priest. Some were members of the old Raft Swamp Presbyterian Church that burned, and some later became members of Antioch and Philadelphus. It's possible that some were at Bethesda. Thank you very much. A friend recently sent me a copy of a letter written by Evander McNair Graham (1836-1908) of Vienna, Louisiana to the Editor of the Christian Observer under date of June 4, 1883. This 1883 letter contained a transcribed copy of a January 20, 1812 membership list for Bethesda Presbyterian Church of Richmond County, North Carolina. The original black "Session Book of Bethesda" was kept by Elder John Purcell Graham (c 1764-1848) who moved to Coosa County, Alabama in 1835 where he helped to form Carolina Presbyterian Church. John Purcell Graham was the grandfather of Evander McNair Graham. Members of Carolina Presbyterian Church later moved to the Ruston, Louisiana area where they formed Alabama Presbyterian Church. There are 104 names on this list (including the given names of three blacks) which I have typed as a Word for Windows doc file. The original of this document is on file at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana in the Graham Family Papers. I will be happy to send this 1812 Bethesda Presbyterian Church membership list to anyone who requests it. The list will be sent as a Word for Windows doc file attachment containing two pages. I would love to hear from any individuals who had ancestors who attended this church in 1812. Also does a history of this church exist? Robert, all the information I had on this family was in my earlier query. Sorry I can't be of any help at this time. I am looking for the parents of Robert Powell who was born 1790/1791 in Robeson County and died in 1858 in Sumter County, Georgia. His wife was Mary Williams who was born in 1796 in Robeson County. Their children were all born in Robeson County before thier coming to Georgia in 1841.
