N.C. historians feel that the James Pugh executed after the Battle of Alamance may be a son of John Pugh and Mary Jenkins. John was a brother of Thomas. This James Pugh m. Ann Hilles. I can't document this conjecture since I know nothing of this James Pugh. It's no doubt that James Pugh, son of Thomas, was a Regulator as was his father and brothers Enoch, Jesse and John. Thomas was a neighbor of Herman Husband, Regulator leader, and Husband m. Mary Pugh, dt. of Thomas. It would certainly fit that this James was the one executed if it weren't for the mention in his father's will and his appearance in the 1790 census. Does anyone have any info on the James Pugh who m. Ann Hilles? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
