    3. Hello Charles! It's been a long time since I've seen you in my mailbox!! As you know, I'm also a descendant of Thomas Pugh. In my search, I found that there is a Pugh family living in Chatham County, NC, very near the Randolph County border. It appears there is a James Pugh in this family also. The age would have been perfect for him to be the James that was hanged at Hillsborough. I will have to dig out my notes to give all the names I found in this family. If my memory serves me correctly, I think the father was Enoch Pugh with sons James and Thomas. Also possibly another son, Jacob. But I have long since felt that this is the James that was hanged. Shortly after the time James was hanged, the father turned his land over to his sons in Chatham Co. I've got copies of the deeds where he did this. In any case, the timing fits and it would explain how our James lived many years after the hanging.
