We've already been corresponding on this, but for the public record, if your Daniel Bunton was born ca 1820-21 in Randolph Co, NC then he is very likely the following Daniel Bunton mentioned in the Richland Lutheran Church records, near Liberty, Randolph County, NC: Daniel Bunton born 3 Feb 1821, son of Jacob Bunton and wife, baptised 5 August 1821. Sponsors: Devald Fox and wife. a note I made from a search in marriage bonds is: Jacob Bunton married Elizabeth "Betsy" Staley in Randolph Co, NC in 1817. Bondsman was Abraham Staley and witness was John B Troy. Another note I made many years ago was that Elizabeth was the daughter of John Staley and Mary Magdalene Smith. I think this last bit came from a Staley family history I saw at the library in Randolph Co, NC. There is another entry concerning Daniel Bunton in the Richland Lutheran Church records: Saloma Bunton, daughter of Jacob Bunton and wife born last day of Dec 1819, baptised 8 July 1820. Sponsors: Adam Spoon and wife. Concerning the Jacob Bunton mentioned, I believe he is the brother of Ebenezer Bunton born ca 1800 whose wife was Rachel. I believe they were sons of David Bunton, whose brother Ebenezer Bunton JR went to Indiana and is my ancestor. Both these boys are sons of the older Ebenezer Bunton who got land grants in NC in 1780s, 90s, etc. The 1870 Chatham Co, NC census shows the above mentioned Jacob Bunton living near Samson Bunton and Micajah Bunton and the John Overman family. Jacob Bunton age 74, wife Elizabeth age 73 The 1850 Chatham Co, NC census I believe has Jacobs age off by 10 years...he should be 54 instead of 44 Jacob Bunton age 44 NC Elizabeth 43 Rachel 23 Manly age 18 Rebecca 16 The 1840 Chatham Co, NC census has Jacob living next to Joseph Overman Jacob Bunting 1 male 5-10 1 male 15-20 1 male 40-50 1 female 5-10 1 female 30-40 The 1830 Chatham Co, NC census Pittsboro Jacob Bunting 1 male 5-10 (this must be Daniel born in 1821, so age 9) 1 male 30-40 1 female under 5 1 female 10-15 1 female 30-40 The 1820 Randolph Co, NC census is not extant, and since our family lived on the county line, they must have been in the Randolph area. In the 1800 Randolph Co, NC census is enumerated Ebenezer Bunton 1 male age 26-45 (must be Ebenezer Jr who went to Indiana) 1 male over 45 (Ebenezer Bunton, Sr) 1 female 16-26 (possibly wife of Ebenezer Bunton JR) 1 female 26-45 (must be sister of Eb Jr) 1 female over 45 (wife of Ebenezer Bunton, SR) Also in the 1800 census is David Bunton, who married Barbara Foust, daughter of Jacob Foust and Charity Kivett. David Bunton 3 males under 10 1 male 26-45 1 female 26-45 This David Bunton can be found in the 1830 Chatham Co, NC census as David Bunting, and living next to Ebenezer Bunting, who was his son Ebenezer Bunton born ca 1800 who married Rachel (maybe she was a Johnson, need to look it up) These two continued to live close together and are listed close together in the 1840 Chatham Co, NC census: David Bunting 1 male 70-80 1 female 5-10 1 female 10-15 1 female 20-30 Apparently Barbara Foust Bunton died prior to the 1840 Chatham County, NC census enumeration.
