Brenda, My husband's Harrell family left Guilford (just above Randolph) Co between 1860 and 1870 for Bartholomew Co, Indiana. According to the little verbal info that I have gotten from the current family, the Harrell family left because of post Civil War difficulties in the area. Also, according to reading on the subject a few years ago, I learned that quite a few families left for Indiana and Arkansas at that time and that some had left ca 1820 for the same areas. I suppose that word of that move and some possible connections to the 1820 families contributed to the decision of those who left 50 years later. If I can locate the material on the moving subject, will send to you.
