I have George and his son Samuel signing a petition in Randolph County in 1788. By 1790 George is not listed on the Census and may be deceased. According to various online family trees George was rumored to be born in Ulster, Ireland around 1715, Samuel was rumored to be born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania around 1756, and married a Sarah Dennis from Center, Guilford, North Carolina where her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth lived. Thomas was born in Randolph, NC around 1795. There were other Alexanders listed in Randolph county (James, Stephen, William Sr, William jr) on the 1790 Census. Are these LAexanders related? The family (Samuel, Sarah, and Thomas) eventually moved to Owen County, Indiana possibly through Kentucky. By 1818/1820, they appeared on the Owen County tax rolls and census pages. Sarah died in about 1830 and Samuel died in about 1832; both in Gosport, Owen Co. Thomas married Mary Ann Morris From there, Thomas migrated with his in-laws Richard and Catherine Morris to Coles, Illinois. Specifically I am looking for verified information about them in NC or earlier and for information about how they got from NC to IN.
