Born on May 28, 1912 in Randolph County, to the late William and Mattie Horner Stutts of Seagrove, NC. Georgia was a faithful Christian and a member of First Baptist Church, Mooresville where she served as greeter for many years. She was a charter member of the church with 64 years service including past president of the Women of the Church. She served twenty years in the Primary Department as the Superintendent. Georgia was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter 258, and served in many capacities as Secretary and Past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the White Shrine in Concord and held offices in the organization. She was a former member and past president of the Mooresville Women's Club, past president of the Mooresville Garden Club and past president of the Linwood Home Makers Club. She worked at the polls for the Iredell County Election Board for many years. Many will remember her affectionately as the "Hankerchief Lady" as she gave away many handmade handerchiefs in honor of friends and as gifts to newlyweds. She will always be remembered! as the "Hat Lady" because of her great love of hats. Georgia was a homemaker, with a love of gardening, and handwork. She shared unselfishly in her community and church serving in a loving capacity and being there when needed in fellowship and love. Mrs. Mabe is survived by her husband of 73 years, Raleigh H. Mabe; son, Randall Mabe (Judy) of Salisbury; daughter, Beverly Archie (Charles) of Mooresville; daughter, Peggy Holshouser (Howard) of Raleigh and one sister, Lucille Stutts Kester of Salisbury. Eight brother and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by grandchildren, Dawn Swing of Mooresville, Dean Archie of Troutman, Scott Holshouser of Fuquay-Varina, Mark Holshouser (Donna) of Chester, NJ, Shane Mabe of Concord, Brad Mabe of Charlotte, Brian Mabe of Concord and great-grandchildren, Amanda Holshouser, Andrew Holshouser and Jason Swing of Mooresville. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 10, 2003 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Mooresville with Dr. E. Harvey Rogers presiding. The family visitation will be at the church from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 150 S. Church St., Mooresville, NC 28115.
