I would just like to tell y'all that all names are spelled in many ways. Don't stop looking if the name is not spelled exactly the way that you spell it. Long ago, many people could not read or spell, and the Clerk of the Court spells it the way he thinks it should be. As a result many descendants, who are all kin, spell in other ways. My PRESNELL name from Asheboro, is spelled that way by most Randolph Co, NC Presnells. But, since I have been collecting all PRESNELLs all over the world, who are almost all kin, I have found it spelled in many ways, such as: PRESNELL, PRESNALL, PRESNAL, PRESSNELL, PRESSNAL, PRESLEY, PRESSLEY, PRESSLY, PRIESTNAL, etc, etc. I hope this will help with what you are looking for. My husband comes from the Eastern NC BRYANs, and the 5 of us who did 4 years of research on those BRYANS (who were mostly in error in the old books) found a several page court document, and in that document there were 16 different spellings of the short name BRYAN. That sounds koo-koo, but it is so.
