I am researching family in Randolph county and am stumped by this reference. Any help appreciated. I am working on the Hughes (Hughs) of Taberacle Township, Randolph County. Solomon Hughes (s) married a Hannah Hill - so I am looking to work on her line too. Example:(from LDS site) 102. Hannah Hill - Pedigree Resource File Gender: F Birth/Christening: 11 May 1793 Back Creek MM,Randolph,NC Thanks, N.J. Hughes
This is an abbreviation for "Monthly Meeting", the most local division of the Quaker organization. Yearly Meetings organized Quarterly meetings which in turn organized Monthly Meetings, so this is roughly the equivalent of Back Creek Church. It is the location of the "parish records", as it were, not the actual birth location.
