May Session 1806 Page 219 Ordered that Joseph DOUGAN be overseer of the Fayette Road down [or from] the X (cross) roads to Webbs Creek & that Meshec Green, Tobias Julin, Batt WALL, Burges WALL, Joseph RICH, William WALL, Solomon WALL & Hamilton McVEY work under him as hands. Probably same Joseph DOUGAN who was bondsman for Temperance WALL and Silas SWAIM on November 02, 1831. (Lee says that Solomon Free, William Free, William Dougan and Alexander Gray all married Allred sisters 1815-1819. daus of John Allred and Sarah Spencer. John had a sister, Mary Allred, b. ca 1762. So this is another possibility for Mary Wall, aunt of Sol. & Wm Free. Also a Mary Wall shows up at the Joseph Dougan sale in 1832. There are some other indirect connections here.
