Wilbur C. Julian WINSTON SALEM - Mr. Wilbur C. Julian, 95, of Winston Salem, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Julian was born in Greenville, SC on July 24, 1911 to Bruner Albert and Bertha Leonhardt Julian. He grew up in Spencer, NC and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II with the 419th Night Fighter Squadron. Mr. Julian married Margaret Eller on April 19, 1942 in Chapel Hill, NC. He moved to Winston Salem from Salisbury, NC in 1947 and worked for Western Electric / Bell Laboratories for 30 years, retiring in 1976. Mr. Julian was a long time member of Green Street United Methodist Church and a current member of Ardmore United Methodist Church. Mr. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Albert Julian and two sisters, Kathryn Earnhardt and Dorothy Hardister. Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Julian, Newport News, VA; two sons, Jonathan and wife, Linda, of Winston Salem and Christopher and wife, Peggy, of Jamestown; one grandson, Jere Julian, Raleigh; one granddaughter, Laurie Julian, Garner; one brother, Jim Julian and wife, Johnnie, Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Mildred Collins and Elizabeth Stirewalt, both of Salisbury; one brother-in-law, J.C. Hardister, Salisbury; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Eller, Salisbury; and many nieces and nephew. Mr. Julian was well loved by his family, friends and neighbors. Service: Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Ardmore United Methodist Church by Rev. John Franklin Howard, Sr. and Rev. Marilyn Lawrence Weiler. Salem Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. He was a true Southern gentleman. He researched the family of Rene Julian and Mary Bullock Julian--their roots and descendants, especially those of North Carolina and beyond. He was from the line of Randolph Co. Julians.
