I will hit the Hoover board and see if someone will check for a possible early Phillip and...... heavens, I hate to even ask about a Jacob. There were so many! But I will, with specifics, so they can eliminate <wry grin>. I will be getting in contact with Davidson Co county/library/historical society sources over the coming weekend, when I have the time to check out their preferred formats and contacts, and can frame concise and specific queries. I have often heard that all the Hoovers in the area were descended from Andreas, and this may be true in Randolph Co. But even though this specific area of Davidson Co is 'just across the border' from Randolph, there are no guarantees that they were connected. May be. May not be. I have often hoped so, because the line was so well-researched, but after a batch of years, I suspect that I may not be that lucky. There were Hoovers early in a number of counties in the Piedmont of NC, and there were Hoovers earlier in a number of counties in VA/MD/PA et al. My Hoovers may have come from one of these lines and places. They may or may not have been all connected back at the shoreline..... I guess that's what we get the fun of figuring out <grins>.
